This is 100% bull. The prison system is overcrowded and certainly does not make a profit. Do you have any idea how much it costs to hold that many people, feed them, provide medical care, etc for 10, 20, 30 years? You're a complete and utter imbecile.

The only prison systems that make profit are private ones, and they only make a profit because the states PAY THEM to hold prisoners because they can no longer afford to house them. They are also rampant with corruption, including a judge who was taking kickbacks from a private JUVENILE correction center for sentencing kids to their facility because the state paid a fee for each kid that was sent there.
See how private systems are an issue? For profit means that the incentive is there to do ANYTHING for it. Human nature is NOT something that can just be ignored. Its nice to live in a fantasy world where all the problems will be solved if the government is taken out of peoples lives, but the fact is that humans are dying to compete with each other in the most violent way possible if they get the chance. |

Private prisons are certainly an immense issue though. Who do you think has such a large vested interest in the War on Drugs, apart from Law Enforcement? It's certainly not the citizenship at large. |
