Do you guys prefer doing cardio before or after lifting weights?

Usually do anywhere between 1/2 - 1 mile warm up on the tread and then starting lifting. Anymore then that and I'm just too beat to do anything.

I've also heard that doing cardio after weight lifting is better for burning fat. Is this true?

Cardio goes second because getting the blood flowing is a good way to decrease muscle soreness on the day after.

i've been going to the gym for a couple of weeks now.. i do cardio first for half and hour and then weights. i have to start small so i feel pretty stupid but at least i'm going..:o i'm meeting with a trainer every 2 weeks to help show me what i need to do and how to do it.

Well you're pretty empty of any fuel after a good lifting, so your body should be burning fat. I recommend long walks (~1 hour) at a 125 - 135 heart rate to burn fat.

I take them just to get adequate protein in my diet to maintain and muscle and replace a meal if i dont have time to eat. When I was aiming for maximum muslce growth and fat loss I was taking pro-complex or syntha 6.

Yes. Cardio first thing in the morning or after your anaerobic workout is the best time to do it because your body is in a carb depleted state so youll use body fat stores as a source of energy instead. Dont forget to replenish glycogen stores after your workout with high glycemic carbs (a banana, grape juice, powerade is a good example) to get insulin levels that will induce muscle growth.

Yeah, aspartame is far worse for your body than sugar. You'll get fat that binds in a weird way so you can't exercise it away. Also it will up your liver. Oh and yeah, it produces formaldehyde in your body.

"During regular soft drinks consumption, fat accumulates in the liver by the primary effect of fructose which increases lipogenesis, and in the case of diet soft drinks, by the additional contribution of aspartame sweetener and caramel colorant which are rich in advanced glycation end products that potentially increase insulin resistance and inflammation."

Dumbass.

I try to separate my cardio. Even when I'm not doing a P90X program, I like to do cardio 3 days of the week and lifting or yoga the rest of the time.

That said, this morning's workout was 'Plyocide', the new version of Plyometrics. I feel like I'm walking through quicksand when I get up and walk around.

After. I don't always do cardio but, when I do, I drip so much sweat you'd be excused to think I just came out of a water fight with a bunch of ultra-orthodox Jews for all the salt in the Dead Sea.

I swear it's so salty even my towel looks like a scroll by the end of it.

Experts tell me loads of things about cardio, and I just can't be arsed to listen to them any more. The bits I remember are:
  • Doing cardio on a steady speed burns most of the fat while you're running;
  • If you run like a crazy hamster, much like I do, paying no attention whatsoever to the speed and running as fast as you can with slow walks between your sprints, then you burn a lot of fat during and after the exercise.
I reserve myself the right to be wrong.
