Sasha (pg. 2)

what im trying to say is that he actually was playing the way he used to play back in the day where it started off somewhere and it was a journey he built his set into something explosive at the end.

he did not just come in and start banging it out with heavy epic peak time records but instead told a story

i dunno man, i'll talk from my experiences here...

i've seen sasha at least 5 or 6 times, some sets were mind-blowing; others were not so good.

last time he was at stereo was stellar. he built and built and built. i remember 9am came along, he had everyone wrapped around his pinky finger. it was magical (i was sober before any accusations/assumptions of being ed come about haha) ...he exhibited control over the crowd, and kept them right where he wanted them. i thought it was a suitable set for stereo and vice versa, i thought stereo was perfect for him and the sounds he put forth that night sounded so ing good on the system. he could have worked the volume a little better but it was good nonetheless.

obviously, this is MY opinion, my rendition of the night. however, i do know for a fact that my opinion is shared by alottttttt of ppl that attended the night. it's fine that you didn't enjoy it as much as you would have liked to. but at the same time, take a step back and realize that your opinion of him not being up to par is the exception to the rule, and not the rule itself.

i can't wait for march 16th! i hope you give him another shot witty :)

last few times ive seen sasha he disappoints

when/where were the last few times? just curious...

would you really wanna miss him though and risk being absent for a hell of a performance?

sasha is a gamble; anyone who knows anything about him, knows this. and i really do think that because it's at stereo, he'll bring his A game...i hope :p

Of course everyone got their take on it. I know a lot of people loved it, more than didn't. Out of the group of seven of us, five didn't like it at all. I'm glad that most people enjoyed it though.

My opinion about Sasha is that he's had a bit of a hard time finding/defining his sound in the last few years. I've heard a few sets over that period of time where the overall style is quite different. I think Sasha realizes that they don't make music today like they used to. It was the early progressive house sound that defined who he was and who he always will be, and quite frankly, that sound is now gone. As a result, he's been latching on to different trends in recent years as well as doing other things, and in this time period has not really settled on a distinct sound. He has done minimal, electro house and now even the whole crosstown rebel thing. That may be changing, I've heard positive comments about him recently. Not sure I love the sound he is pushing at the moment (I can post a fairly recent set from Fabric I think and there's also the one Erika mentioned from Panoramabar), but I am definitely going to go this time around.

is that because he played like "sasha" used to play and built a set, keeping it deep dark and moody and then slowly growing it into something absolutely mind blowing and explosive !!!!!

like the ones him and john used to play at twilo !!!

Exactly! I was completely blown away by the set. I was hoping that he'll play the way he used to play and he delivered a major major performance ( in my top 3 performances that i've seen live ). He really built his set in the proper way. Most mind blowing performance i've seen at Stereo.

Sadly I'm one of the few peeps that didn't go to pepsi forum in 2007 ( don't ask why ), was his playing style similar to the one @ pepsi forum?

saw him at stereo last time, 1234 before, b&b, pepsi forum. he was the best at pepsi forum. the stereo gig wasn't bad at all, in fact it was good, but not amazing. he's a gamble, sort of like lawler, but lawler i wont even waste my time seeing again

this isnt against stereo, sasha, the booking or anything, it's bound to b an amazing night i just think i'll skip it (i wont b in town anyway)

all I'm saying is the fact that people have had different experiences seeing him play in the last few years is, in my opinion, attributed mostly to the changes in the style of music that he plays. If you have a problem with people talking and sharing their opinion about music then dude I really don't know what to say.

I thought we were cool Greg:(

my reply was actually MY opinion on sasha lately... had nothing to do with your post AT ALL.
