does he sell more records than you, yes.
does he make a living off of music, yes.
does he have a unique style, yes.
has he changed the game, yes.
will you ever swallow your pride and accept it, probably not.
i dont even listen to this guy's music but I'm the first to respect talent and achievements when I see it.

as a producer, talk like this will ruin your cred. is britney spears a legend because she has platinum records?
No one ever denied Deadmau5 having talent... dude is MEGA talented, brilliant even, that's not what this is all about

ahhh the let's see you do better argument. this is the argument of someone without a valid point. its like asking a golfer how many nhl goals he has.
try again.
use logic this time.
a legend takes more than 3 years of success. michael jackson is a legend...deadmau5 has a long way to go.
no one said he never had talent even if he likes 8th notes way too much. i'm just saying he isn't a legend. he might be someday. Limp Bizkit sold way more than he has, are they legends? fred durst works as a jizzmopper in a peep show now.

I would say he's talented enough but that lots of other variables came together to make him what he is today. Brian will kick my ass :p but his talent is no more abundant than Madonna's in her field.. but they are both successful today due to many factors beyond their own 'talents', imo.

i'd also like to point out that deadmau5 IS NOT A DJ. he is a performer, he gives a concert, not a dj set.
as much as i dislike his sound, he has re-defined a lot of things associated with the EDM scene. his production value is top notch, he is a geek, and he knows it. he basks in it even.
he sells out stadiums, not clubs. legendary status? absolutely. people will remember him in 10-15 years. for me, if you're doing this for 15+ years, that's pretty legendary.
i'd also like to point out that he NEVER SOLD HIS SOUL. he has always been into this, it is nothing new. when everyone ranted on him, did he change? no. he said you all, i'm doing what i want, and guess what? y'all are jealz cuz it's ing profitable.
cant believe i'm defending the guy when years ago i got into a fight on these boards with him.
my friends that i went to wmc with this year are hardcore deadmau5/skrillex/zedd/kill the noise fans. they love the music i love too, they just prefer what they prefer.
they have educated me about these above mentioned artists. i went with them to the skrillex show last thursday at the raleigh hotel. yes, me. i actually went. i lasted about 2 hours but it was a ing great time nonetheless. deadmau5 was at the show as well, having a grand old time.
anyways...did he sell out? hell no. he intelligently built on something he saw blowing up. it took me years to admit it, but i finally am. name me 3 other performers (NOT DJS) that are doing what he does...on level that he is doing it...with the same magnitude too? not a single one.

don't know how i can be more logical... i challenge you to make the drum loop from this record. just the drum loop.
All this to say is, before criticizing someone's music , please achieve something yourself, and I doubt anyone trashing deadmau5 has even finished a 4 bar loop, let alone sold millions of records.
we need more opinionated people like him, that's the only way to move forward. what a **** move by madonna, and this is coming from a madonna fan. that's just a huge PR stunt.
Adam420
On a related note, did anyone ever hear Deadmau5's Mixmag CD from like 2007? That was hot, yo. It has tracks from Loco Dice, Rozzo, Shlomi Aber, Peace Division, etc...I probably listened to it like 10 times back then.

bull
one can discuss (praise and criticize) the artistic merits of any work of art without having to achieve a comparable level of proficiency in said art
it's like saying you can't rant about a ford focus because you haven't built a car yourself. c'mon, son.

you've never told anyone a movie was casa? have you made movies?
get the out of here with these illogical rebuttals.
really i've been buying records for 20 years, i'll call something if i feel like it.

you're totally wrong.
if you wanna get all metaphorical and fine, but i prefer to stick to logic.
have you done what he's done. no. have you even attempted. no.
that's like you being one of those s that criticizes Carey Price and when you can't even tie on a pair of skates let-alone make it as a 3rd string goaltender in the NHL.
or trying to become a judge without passing the bar exam and being a lawyer first.

Acutally no I haven't. I tend to focus on my own life rather than sit there judging people's hard work. I guess it's kinda hard to understand. I don't blame you.
