oh god the irony. ghost ghost writing. ... yeah i remember back in 2008 at i literally donated him "no sudden moves" and "contact" because they were too much in the same vein as "not exactly" at the time, so i unloaded the masters to glenn to release for some stupid ass reason ill never fully understand.
Sadly, yes, there are still quite a handful of "producers" that can't produce. Its not nearly as common and prevalent as it was a few years back, but yeah... if you enter that world, just make sure you're ready to lawyer up in a few years. It's gets ridiculess... ghost writting is the faux pas term for what everyone likes to call "executive producer" these days.... i guess it sounds less untalented or something. |
Lol, I can't believe he put them out with a straight face.
I really don't understand the need for ghost producers these days.
I mean, it's never been easier to lay down a track, and frankly the DJ's (ahem) that need ghost producers aren't exactly playing Autechre masterpeices. Four elements, a kick and get practicing your fistpump, job done. Well it works for SHM doesn't it? |

| It's so ed up how talent and subterfuge coexist in this lifestyle. Like L4C says you really can fake it. The crowd is so superficial though, you can't necessarily blame people (producers, djs, etc) for taking such blatant advantage of them. |

dumb nooby question. What is someone actually selling when they advertise "professional Ghost productions for sale"?
I come from a band background where having a producer present during the recording and mix process is common and isnt really seen as a bad thing. |

| ghost producing is when someone else writes and produce a track and you put your name on it (usually in exchange for a large sum of money) as if you were the one who wrote and produced it. It's something that dumbass djs and hacks do to make themselves feel cool. it's lame as f@@@. |

| Hehe, No Sudden Moves was an amazing track :) I loved mashed-up version with Faithless - God is a DJ :D (can't find it on youtube - the only one version available there is not that good) |

uh ok. I get it. In such a situation does the "real" song writer obtain royalty percentages or is it strictly the one off fee? Id imagine that if its only the one off fee it would be a fairly decent amount, you'd be pissed if you didnt get paid much and the song became huge. |
