social media is obv a factor, it's changing the world

I think a lot of peeps got turned off by the amount of trolling that went on over last 2 years as well. Mr. Canada did some damage, I wish the moderators wouldn't have waited so long on that one. hmm!

+1 to both points.

Are you talking about me? Or someone else? I just joined the board this January, so I don't know what damage I did.

I think that social media plays a big factor, mostly because people want followers not discussions. Message boards have more of a community feeling, mostly because everyone is here for the discussion on the board, not to follow others like on Facebook Twitter etc.

+1. I'm surprised they didn't take action since it was pretty clear to me that it would negatively impact participation, and therefore the success of the site.

Took 2h14min for the guy to respond. Yep. Same putz. Constantly searching for any mention of any of his bull names.

Watch. I'll bet wit responds to this post too. But he might wait longer. Either way, I'm starting the clock.

To your point jon, the number of former regular posters and members that have told me directly that he's the reason they stopped reading/posting/visiting TOTA and TA in general is actually quite depressing. Without naming names, as I'd never do so, I can assure you that it's upwards of 15, and goodness knows I don't know that many people here directly. So where there's smoke, there's fire. Sure social media has deteriorated the readership/usage of forums as a whole, but the hardcore trolling and its spinoff reactive trolling (which I'm guilty of doing) certainly took this board down a notch.

well the community actually continues on FB. There may be less threads but people are still meeting new people.

I feel like TOTA is in a resurgence. Look at the first page, and its almost all about music, and has been for weeks.
