honestly it's easy as this, if you got nothing positive or construtive to add to a thread then don't post...
it's like how a noob will come on here and ask a simple question about the guv... but instead of a member answering the simple question, their will be 2 or 3 pages of members saying "the guv is being closed and there building condos"... like really?
ppl will leave this site believing that stuff... it's not like talking to someone in person and they can see the smile on your face as your messing with them... just answer the pour noob's question and the thread will disapear in a week making space for a better thread...

again, taking this board way too seriously!

you got some good points there, good discussions are suppose to drive a forum.

Thanks, I feel that discussions, depend on the people responding Don't get me wrong, it also helps to have good topics to discuss, but even mundane things can be fun to reab about, when people use their personlaity.

The only people who ruin the discussions are the trolls, & spammers. Their names are never mentioned, yet they go into threads, & they do not add to them.

this is not Howard Forums, bud
Bobby already mentioned that if he wants a specific answer for something he visits other boards
this has rarely been a "yahoo answers" kinda board

who the hell comes here & cries about not being taken seriously? even back in 2006 I didn't expect that lol

"A voice is a human gift; it should be cherished and used, to utter fully human speech as possible. Powerlessness and silence go together."
Margaret Atwood

Those that don't speak their minds and sit idly by (whilst others do as they please) is what got us in this mess in the first place - that applies to the microcosm of "TA" or anything else

No it is not Howard forums, but it is a music forum, and this is the right place to post THOSE questions.

And this very much used to be the "yahoo answers" of trance and EDM. IMO it still is. People on this site have so much knowledge about producing, DJing, throwing parties, record labels...etc. A lot of that stuff you could not track down anywhere else.

Take this classic thread: Tracks that sound like other tracks.. (not done by same producer)

Where else on the internet would you come up with a list like that? I guess that was a little before your time.

It's not about being taken seriously it's about being able to get a simple question answered and the forumn growing with new members.
Alot of the normal posters from 2006 when i joined up, arent really around because they hung up there dancing shoes (or they stopped sharing on this forumn) and theres not many new members filling in there places... that's what were talking about in this thread... we need new members in to keep TA afloat...

I miss reading the Roll Call's and the review threads...

Those facebook event pages are full of a bunch of neon kids and ppl that know jack about our scene... We come to TA becasue there's suppose to be like minded individuals on here where we can have a real discussion as opose to a bunch of kids on FB talking about how drunk there going to get at the skrillex concert...

Do I care for dubstep? Not as much as other genres I listed but to each their own!

You're first and last sentences of this sum it up perfectly. It's not one or the other, but both combined I think that are negatively hurting things. Most people are definitely very precise and picky with what they listen to and that's honestly a good thing. It means you're passionate, educated, and you've found the optimal music to maximize the enjoyment you get from it. Beautiful. The problem is people don't understand the concept of "to each their own!". It's great to pick and enjoy you're own music but some people seem to have no desire to let other people do the same unless it happens to specifically be the same music as their's.

Perfect example is that Ibiza Festival thread. couple pages of everything going alright, good vibes and positive hype. Then there were a couple comments along the lines of how he's not what he used to be (I agree with that and am not disputing it at all) but then the bandwagon of hate started and it turned into a 10 post rant about how he sucks now. End of a thread that was going great until then.

Realistically speaking in terms of change though it's essentially trolling customized for TA and EDM. Not a new occurrence and it happens in every corner of the www so highly doubt it's gonna disappear from here anytime soon. As much as we can say the place would be better without it who knows. It's very possible if it were to magically disappear that the place would be dry and boring then we'd all leave overnight. It'd be great to see less negativity but end of the day I think it's a "careful what you wish for" type thing.

Idk - this particular part of the forum has become a mambo-jambo of everything not music related a while ago - so why do you suddenly expect expert answers to your questions?

a portion of us who used to be active members 5 years ago, is not around anymore

younger/new members don't take this place as seriously as you guys do/did
Orko
I didn't say "serious" anywhere, and my comments are not to the intensity, or emotion of the discussion. My comments center around the content of the discussion on TA. There is a big difference there.

I think the logic still holds true. Would anybody sign up to this forum, if they weren't interested in the music? No. Therefore, TranceAddict (and all forums) still has a viable, and important place among their target demographic.

BC the experts are still here, and they are still active.

Example: DJOS2 answering questions about the Digital Dreams fest, that he is helping to organize.

+1

Overal it would be nice if ppl didnt be so harsh to the new member's as they are the ones that are going to keep TA going...

the scene is getting bigger(Toronto and beyond) and TA can still be an awesome community for edm fans...
