| that isn't a scene. That is just drunk people in an area. Don't try to impose a very specific genre that is not accessible to most and expect everyone but the hipster house douches to have fun. The promoter is ultimately the person that isn't matching the entertainment to the audience but Mark Farina. well i honestly would be bitching too. Hey, its been like 3 hours, change the tune. You don't need to polarize it. There is middle ground. Farina does what he does but i think you need to have a pretty bad case of tunnel vision to enjoy that monotonous . Or really ing high. Oh this track is like the last track but the snare changed. Fantastic. |

What are you going to callme out on? Nobody leaves a mark farina set with a track in their head because he plays that generic west coast hose that has not changed or evolved in decades. I honestly dont get how you can listen to such paltry offerings and not wonder what everyone else took because I am about to fall asleep. Farina gets by with his seniority which I cant help but think as established during those honeymooney drug taking heydays.
Not that what happeneed excuses idiot promoters but lets notdistort the fact that he appeals to a very small crowd of scenesters or past scenesters and the gays. That is his only fan base. |

I think he would be great in the bar area of a club or second room but a main room? Would be a bit much unless the whole crowd was rolling.

you must have heard him on a bad night. 2 of 3 times ive seen him he played amazing. probably the best traditional house sets ive heard (black vocals, organic instrumentation/rhodes). yea i left with a track in my head, searched for it for a long time and never could find it. it had the vocal "move your dick to the beat".
anyway, this incident is bound to happen again because trouse is very popular now, and its miles away from house music's original sound, yet its filed under the same umbrella. traditional house should be treated like polka, or bluegrass, in that they are types of music with a specific formula that doesnt give much room to evolve and has a small following of old people and never goes away. |

that is kinda it tho,
authentic house is like saying, i play music that sounds like music made from this year to that year. IT all kinda sound the same. Basically 2 hours of black gospel singing and rhode riffs over a quantized drum beat with what i would not even call a bassline.
If that is your thing, great but it is a very small niche that very few people enjoy. I can't fault him for playing what he likes, i personally just wouldn't go but i have been at a club and been at the mercy of the type of djs who seem to think making your set sound like 1 long track is pretty cool. I would just leave and not come back.
This is besides the point tho. The promoter of the club should know what he plays, it isn't very hard to find out that hmmm, this isn't what i thought house was or what all those juiced up mongoloids who think house is euro dance will enjoy. If the dj played hip hop, he probably wouldn't be booted. People can withstand music that feels like there are actual tracks and that you just aren't listening to a drum machine. But when you play USA house, well to most people, that is what it sounds like. |

Ive seen him a couple of times and I always go to hear that west coast house sound. I dont get why some of you think every DJ or producer needs to be breaking ground on every new production or dj set. He is who he is and plays a certain style of music that has its place and when im in the mood for it, something i enjoy hearing live and dancing to. |
