2004 was the last really good year for Progressive and Trance, everyone started playing really gay cheese on toast electro crap or boring as minimal that sounded like insects bumming trying to be cool rather than just make good ing music, it just went so far up its arse, I stopped trying to keep up around 2007
also vinyl was dying off and the download sites became just so full of average it was/is boring to go through new stuff unlike before when it was one the best parts of dj'ing, no quality control

Probably the best thing about 2004 was the amount of good progressive breaks, a genre which was essentially completely useless on the dancefloor and thus drove the final nail through the coffin lid for the progressive scene.
