Its tough to really fault the guy for taking on the remix project. We forget sometimes that this is his career, his livelihood. Remixing a Justin Bieber track is great for his career, and is a huge profile builder for him. He may be a mega-star to us, but to the general public, he is unknown.
I haven't heard the remix in question, so can't comment on it. If people just don't like it, I get that criticism. I just don't agree with people hating based on principle alone. Who cares if he remixed a Justin Bieber track really? Its not like Ferry Corsten is some uber-underground dj/producer to begin with. He's not now, and to be honest, never really was. I could see if Chris Liebing decided to remix the Biebs, it would be kind of crazy. But its really not the end of the world.
My 2 cents anyway. |

I'm actually a bit nervous about 'Scream'... |

They label it as "trance", they constantly tweet to the "#trancefamily", they thrive on young kids thinking it's trance, and then in every interview they badmouth trance and say they're beyond it.. |

yup, trance doesnt need a family, especially one filled with clueless candy raver's who are probly just hitting puberty now.
trance was fine 5-6 years ago. now its just getting ted on and not cause the music is bad, its the top guys who do exactly what you said are doing, they label their pop stuff as trance
makes me sick |

Markus already caught his flack when he did a track with Mele Mel and Scorpio of The Furious Five.... and that all blew over just like this will eventually. |

Meh, Ferry's no different from the rest of us. A lot of us have things that we love, or are passionate about, but at the end of the day it's all about that paper and keeping it flowing in, lol. Sucks...
Now, imagine if your god-given talent was producing ; if you could take just about any piece of garbage track and turn it into money. Also imagine that your life style is much more expensive to maintain than that of the average person. Deplorable, I know, but it is what it is... :sadgreen: |

lol no he's not. I mean I guess I never thought Sander would abandon tech trance so I could be wrong. But Markus still does his own thing... and you know he's always going to start deep and progressive and build it up ;)
Markus still regularly does 7-9 hour solo sets. He signs amazing talent to Coldharbour. He always plays GOOD music, even if it's not trance. He's been on a Guy J kick the past few weeks, it's awesome.
Even if Scream turns out to have some poppier stuff on it, I don't really think it's a reflection of him as a DJ. His productions vary. He genre hops. I have faith in Markus :D |

I have no idea what you guys are talking about when you say Markus is going to be the next to sell out. Srsly?
I would have pictured Ferry and MANY other DJs selling out before Markus.
Markus regularly plays clubs until close, dropping 6 hour sets almost weekly, sometimes more. Other than a poppy track (Alesso's remix of Pressure, for example) every few hours or so, his sets are dark moody and techy like they've always been.
Do You Dream had some pop-tastic tracks on it, but lots of great trance tracks as well. Overall his BPM range has dropped a bit, but that's just because the BPM range of his style of trance has also dropped with the additions of new artists like Mr. Pit, Grube and Hovesijofoesppeneinfeinfeojl, Nifra, KhoMa, etc. The concerns that "Scream" might have some cheese on it are valid; it probably will have a few cheesy tracks. Will his live sets change one bit? Probably not.
These, to me, are not signs of a DJ selling out. These are signs of a DJ staying true to his game. I'm calling it right now; Markus will die before he sells out (unless underground trance dies completely, in which case he'll probably just off himself :stongue: ) |

Seems you and I are on the same page! And I love the Guy J kick too =D His podcast has been amazing with all of the deep progressive he's been opening it up with... he seriously digs for some epic ing tracks every week. |
