It's the first time in my life there's been a political leadership in Canada where you hear no mention, no debate, or nothing leading up to large decisions being made and unfortunately we have 3 more years of it. |
You hit the nail on the head, couldn't have said it better. |

I don't believe the following comment by John Baird is accurate: "...the government of Iran [is] the most significant threat to global peace and security in the world today..." |
Of course it is! The same way Iraq was in 2003!

Most significant threat to global peace and security?? Why can’t he just be honest with the people and say Iran is a threat to Israel FFS? Also have you guys noticed when it comes to big decisions and policy making generally speaking these Conservatives always tend to announce them when they are overseas?? Cowards.. |

| This is a big move and I hope people don't forget about it in a week. We're living in strange times... easy access to alternative sources of information yet and increasing number of ppl turning a blind eye as they only stick to what the mainstream media feeds them. |

Harper is a piece of and a puppet to the U.S. and Israel. How did Iran become so dangerous now? Did they even think about the Iranian Canadians in this country who travel back to Iran to see their families all the time? How is Iran the biggest threat to Canada? |
that's the first thing that came to my mind when I read about this :\ |

Iranian government is funding Assad's oppression of Syrian people. And even before that, Canada has no business in Iran, and now we legitimately hace to excuse to get out of that country.
The level of human rights and democratic process is pathetic in Iran. Just this week I read this:

Iranian Actress Banned For Nude Photo [well, NOT SO NUDE!]
| quote: |
An Iranian actress has been banned from her home country after she posed nude for a French magazine.
The black and white photograph shows Golshifteh Farahani topless, but covering her breasts with her hands.
“I was told by a Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guide official that Iran does not need any actors or artists. You may offer your artistic services somewhere else”, Farahani told The Telegraph after the photograph was published in France’s Madame Le Figaro magazine.
Farahani, who was the first Iranian-based actress to star in a Hollywood film since the country’s 1979 revolution, is a major star in Iran but is best known abroad for playing opposite Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe in “Body of Lies.”
The photograph, which was posted on her Facebook fan page, drew polarizing responses.
“We have to be open minded but not with opened dresses . She sold her body as an Icon,” a commenter named Sathiajith wrote.
“I think you are a brave woman Golshifteh and hope you will get the respect from your country that you deserve,” a commenter named Chris wrote.
This isn’t the first time Farahani’s career has upset authorities in Iran. The actress said an Iranian court weighed whether she broke a law by making a movie without permission, she told the New York Daily News at the 2008 premiere of “Body of Lies,” causing the actress and her husband to move to Paris.
“[Iranian officials] took my passport. The intelligence service interrogated me several times. In the end, the judge said, ‘We have to see the movie and then decide what we’re going to do with you,’” she told the newspaper. |
