Just smoke for me (I know I was supposed to see a face there, but that belief would be totally stupid)

Interesting.. althought America's actions were mostly justified. I mean, ok there were 200,000 dead iranians. But what would u have done if u were America, and were worried that iranian "extremism" would spread to all the rest of Arab countries. I mean, u would not have let the Middle East fall to a bunch of fanatics. And u should try to preserve order at all costs, even if that implies mantaining a few dictatorships (Iran's Sha, or a few monarchies in arab countries).

WTF? justified??? nuking 2 cities of ig civilians??? Sept 11 was the exact same concept, hurt the enemy by attacking not their military, but their populace. Weaken them from the inside, and from the way America has acted, it worked pretty damn well.

America had an opportunity in the days after the attack to gain perspective and understanding of the world's feelings towards themselves. Instead, they've cocooned. They're going the wrong way! The rest of the world is bigger than they are, and at least as smart!

Also:
- Each day in the developing world, 34,000 children die from preventable diseases such as diarrhea, acute respiratory infections or malaria. Malnutrition is associated with over half of those deaths (UNICEF, World Health Organization). That is equal to 24 children each minute.

- About 24,000 people die every day from hunger or hunger-related causes - that's one person every 3.6 seconds.

How much public outcry do we hear about THAT? How many people died in the WTC again?

Somehow, I doubt that picture...

Brought to you by the people with toasty brains who sat in front of their Windows95 computers and saw subliminal messages that operating system's splash screen during bootup...

Don't even bother comparing these things...they're not even close to being the same.

Sept. 11 was the single most evil unannounced terrorist attack in the world; period. Not only for the Americans but for a lot of other counties as well.
Do not forget that there were people from all over the world in those towers; it was not just 'An American' thing; don't be that naive.

America has never cocooned???? Where the heck have you been??? Have you watched any of the Sept.11th ceremonies?
Did you not watch as a UNITED front took to the terrorists?
Did we not watch Canadian soldiers get into planes to go 1/2 way round the world to fight what? Terrorism.
Do you really thing we as a country are that dumb that we just submit to whatever the States do?
You can't tell me that the day you watched those towers get hit and collapse that you didn't feel scared and powerless?
The Canadian (and other governments around the world) are not so naive to believe that terrorists actually believe in boundaries.
That is why our soldiers went.
It's the same reasoning soldiers went during the World Wars I & II.
Ask a VET on Nov.11th about that; freedom was challenged.

I'm not making light of the statistics of hungry people etc; that is tragic as well, but other than their deaths, that's about the closest link there is.

And if we're going to get into statistics, why don't we post the amount of monitary aid that these starving coutries get and from whom?
Who do you think will be at the top of the list?

Am I defending the States here? You bet.
It's as much our problem here as it is thiers, if not by proximity, then definately by values and morals.

Europe, and Japan next.

If you compare aid as % of GDP the figures get worst for the USA (excluding money to Israel).

(but I get your point)

Ps: to mikefasssy & Maaz only: read between lines and get the whole context ;) Peace.
