is that sentiments for the well being of a nation, or of a planet? NO ... it's all about your own self
you make no mention of saving the world???
but when I hear usa people say silly stop, gimme me a break, that's when I come out and break your necks j/k |
Stop interchanging conversations ... I was the one that remarked that the US has sentiments for the well being of the planet ... what have I said that was contradictory to my arguments? I was also the one to say that the world needs to cut us a break, that we've done a lot of good selfless things for the international community and I backed up my argument with examples. Are you gonna refute me with concrete examples or are you going to dance around the issue? |

oh so I'm not allowed to disagree or correct busy child if he was somewhat wrong ? you're the one beating around the bush and giving excuses for not listening to what is FACT and was it what's been told to you which is a small slice of the truth.
*peace*
oh and ps : I was talking to busy child; not you in that last reply |

alright im confused now as to who is talking to who about what and whatever. Let's just let this die down and just agree to disagree before this degrades into a silly squabble. I'm just sick of people making ignorant remarks about Americans being ignorant when they themselves are being just as stereotypical and just as idiotic as the people they claim to be better than. I haven't been back in this forum for a long time and I'm surprised and saddened by how polarized things have become. I'm not afraid to say that I have pride for my country and I'll stick up for what I believe to be a great country. If everybody wants to alienate us from these forums by bashing us continually then that's fine by me. I'm not going to be bothered by ignorant bull. |

danemark has great schools, how the hell do you want to compare when you don't know what they have over there? wtf ?
concretely , I try not to bitch to much about the usa, but when I hear usa people say silly stop, gimme me a break, that's when I come out and break your necks j/k |
JDat,
I make a comment saying that the United States has more top notch schools than Denmark and you twist my words around to make it sound like Im putting down danish schools. Haha, I did not imply that Danish schools suck compared to American schools. Denmark has great schools, but how many??? Not as much as the United States. . . . . maybe because the United States is a bigger country?
And dont presume that I dont know what Im talking about either. You dont know me and you dont know my background.
And I still dont understand your comment "bigger military = lower education of the mass, brain washing etc. Top notch schools in the usa = a business."
Do you have anything to back that up? Id like to see that.
Cheers. |

ok here's my point ...
ok in the usa we don't live under a dictatorship , but , giving all your hopes in the military is giving your own power into the hands of the government as a full .... what about our right to bear arms in the usa according to the constitution ? nope not about to happen , we'll got shot on , like the students got shot at Kent during the 60s riots. ( I'm cutting it short I KNOW )
you said it yourself, you prefer money in the military ....
school being a business, THEY ARE.... the tuition cost being outerageous , and being up-ed every semester, what a joke, and you say your governement is helping you ? well ok , you got scholarships, but that's not for everyone, and the others, are doomed to working their asses off barely making it through  or being on credit for 10 years after they get out of school.
your schools = money , that's why I'm going back to Switzerland where my tuition will be about 3000 bucks, and yes I know cost of living will be more expensive , but the tuition so much lower + I want to in europe + the school is by far better than the average graphic design school in the usa ( what the hell ... I can't afford a 17 grand a year school here  )
go to europe, or elsewhere, schooling is much cheaper, or free, and that doesn't mean it's bad!
schools in the usa can do a lot I know, lot more then european schools, cause they have the money .....and the usa can also buy out the rest of the world of it's brains cause they have the money .......... I mean it's cool for the usa, and it makes sense why foreign brains would come here cause of the money, really show how much the usa smells like gold :p
hey and please don't feel offended by what I'm saying ... when I moved here a year ago ( I am dual citizen : french american ) I knew I didn't want to stay , or at least not here, in ohio , it's depressing me, and maybe my current location is making me hate this country even more, forgive me, I really want to be somewhere more dynamic = bigger city , which I don't have here cause I'm in freaking suburbia...and to finish ; my guilt is that the only things I find appealing to being in the usa are materialistic, nice comps, cheaper technology, cars etc..... and I'm trying to break free from this, maybe being in a bigger city in the usa would help me cut from it cause really , I need to be entertained, not by myself , but what goes on around me.... not finding this here ..
I'll shut up next time , I promise , I just talked for non sense, and you're gonna bash me for it, and not see my point, ok, so be it  |

Hear hear ... the basic argument that a lot of people are making on this topic is that the US DESERVED in some way what happened to it. Stop being such pretentious pricks and ask yourself whether your country, your culture, or your society are so innocent of any wrongdoing ... |

JDAT,
No worries intended. I dont know what situation you were in such as out of state or in state, but my in-state tuition is no more than $3000 for the whole year for 15 credits both semesters. Im an electrical engineering major at virginia tech and when you said $17,000, it sounds like youre talking about an out of state school which you would have to pay out of state tuition . . . .yea im einstein.
Virginia has always been good about keeping tuition down but this year tuition went up and its not because the school is trying to mooch money. Its because the state has decreased its funding for schools.
European schools are indeed top notch, and like you said, some are even free . . . .you just have to pass the rigorous entrance test. I myself spent 5 months researching the top engineering schools in europe to study abroad. For next summer, Ive decided to go to Nottingham University in the UK which im told is close to all of the clubs such as GC. . . .I DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You mentioned the constitution and made some good points. It is my understanding that the right to bear arms from the constitution was created so the colonists could protect themselves from the british soliders who would often come uninvited. Nowadays, we dont fear red coat wearing british, (except elton john and george michael) and giving the right to bear a firearm to anybody without a permit is insane. Imagine if everyone came to school packing a piece.
What happened at Kent University was tragic but from the footage that I saw, the protest didnt look exactly peaceful. Nonetheless, the Po-Po's didnt need to be so brutal and killing students was uncalled for.
Cheers. |

good to see we agree :) anyhow , yeah usa does offer the advantage compared to others, schooling for *everyone* ... granted it's paid along the way..
my prob is wanting an art school , and the public ones suck .... graphic design courses in them just don't cut it :p
hence private for 17 grand a year, I had a couple schools on my list... but with the cost involved ( hell I wasn't even allowed to apply for scholarships :( ) I said no ...
tech stuff is good in public schools I know |

Ok. This thread is deadlocked, you re arguing about so many points that i doubt each of u is really listening the others.
:conf:
Ps: 4 the americans... remember what motivates Bush & the Congress... it's not the well-being of american ppl, but their personal interests. Lobbies have a lot of political power, military lobbies, agricultural lobbies, financial lobbies, oil lobbies, etc etc.
Don't trust so blindly that your government is always acting for the good of the people. Many times it isn't. |
