i quite like it, i heard once a remix that used different sounds and was amazing can't remember its name sadly.

Worst thing about system f is that the full album is the same dutch supersaw with different melodies. Same goes for Gouryella, the tracks are melodically outstanding but very cheesy, the videoclip is also mention worthy... unfortunately nobody made a great remix out of this tracks , maybe the transa remix of tenshi.

Never really cared for it. Although it was one of the biggest rave anthems for California at the time. I'm more of a fan of Exhale and Ferry's remix of Albion-Air.

still love it. original, 5am mix, commie remix & picotto mix. i'd like lucien foorts remix more if he'd taken his version even more into the electro route

i find it is under rated. I can't think of any other track in EDM that gives a better sense of ending. As a dj, this was that one track that you couldn't just play except at the end of yoru set. and the next dj would have to just stop the music for a 30 seconds and start with something tribal starting from scratch in terms of momentum. It is the one track i find impossible to really follow with another track. I find it is just that nostalgic. It coincided with the end of the rave scene pretty much and i think it will always have that historic importance that will invoke that nostalgia.

Underrated? Are you joking? Maybe it's because you weren't in to trance /edm in the late 90's but Out of the Blue was possibly the biggest track of the year and was so overplayed in the trance clubs that many grew to hate it.

i found that track underscored the end of a decade. The production was great, the melody is still probably one of the catchiest trance hooks of all time and it gave a sense of closing. You couldn't play that track and play something else. It was and is the ultimate closing track

Agree with your words but for a different reason.

I'll just leave this here:

For me, 1999 was the year it all went horribly wrong Dance music (or "trance" as it then became called - but that's another discussion...;) ) . I can nearly pinpoint it to a particular record: System F - out of the blue

I remember hearing for the first time in a (very good) club in late 1998 and thinking, "oh that breakdown is just too over the top and that's just to much fromage for one piece of vinyl".

Suddenly, track after track came out in the same vein, some better than others in fairness, but a model had been established which set the formula for a particular type of trance that although popular and well produced in many cases, was so formulaic and instantly disposable.

It;s not fair to say it's all the fault of Ferry or that track as there were many things leading up to it and that new generation of ravers were just discovering dance music (and so was the new media) as a mainstream phenomenon, but that was certainly the poster boy track for that new and crap wave. I remember going to clubs and hearing the same few tracks, from the same few labels - diversity hugely suffered as the scene got commercialized and big sponsors started to want to get involved in reaching the target demographic of young people with disposable income and little responsibilities. It also attracted a different crowd, that pushed a lot of the serious clubbers to other less mainstream/underground events or to hate the scene in total.

I probably knew about 30 people who moved on from the scene that year, that were way too young to do so but hated what it became. A classic example of this was creamfields (the first one in 98). Probably the best night of my life. Then next year, big money got involved, sponsors wanted more of the cake and it resulted in creamfields not happening, but two competing and rather events taking place. That was the beginnning of the end of trance in the UK at least, and look at it now....

Oh and if you want a better ending track:

Trance-MB
Ferry used it at the beginning of his Trance Nation mixed compilation, the 2nd track: http://www.discogs.com/System-F-Fer...n/release/36105
I never thought that was strange.

Oh, right, because duration = subtlety

Oh, you're complaining because there's too much stuff going on during the breakdown.

No, it's because it's too ing cheesey. I ing hate the recent slew of over simplified/SHM/LBL breakdown bull that has plagued EDM for the last coupel of years. Read my post above.

I mean how many ing octave spans and high notes does that breakdown hit?

Don't get me wrong, I think the track is well made but it's cheese.
