Here, I just made this, this is kind of what I imagine the track sounding like. That bass line is so good that it just has to pull more of the attention IMO. I think the track has too much... window dressing, you know?

Thats why this forum is so valuable to me. I've pm'd you sean - thanks ever so much.

I'd buy it as is. The level of the vocals didn't turn me off

bass isn't there. You really have to side chain the kick and snare in this type of music. The drums sound better. The pattern is still awkward but they are better.

On which, his or mine lol?

Richard I urge you, no I beg you not to change the bass in your track. No offence but Seandroids effort is inferior in every possible way.

I didn't intend on him changing the bass, I meant just the volume of the bass line. I would have used his I just didn't have the sample. I feel like it needs to be more forward in the mix. It's D&B. His bass synth is fine.

I made that primarily to point out what I felt the drums should sound like.

My bad.

It's not that what you did was bad, but compared to his....... :p

Are you thinking more sidechain on the bassline? I was in 2 minds about it as it's already heavily sidechained believe it or not. It is a bit clashing in the mids especially when the kick hits maybe.

TEHLORD - I here ya and glad you like the bass as is, but I am thinking seanboy has a point. His was only a quick idea so nothing like as good as he can do, but I take his general point. I'll keep this version, but I will experiement with some gnarly bass overlays, even if just here n there.

I feel a bit guilty asking for all this input, hope people aren't too pissed by it. I wish I had the self confidence just to know when it's done, but it just ain't my nature where music is concerned.

Mind you I listened to the beatport top 10 in D&B, minimal, Techno and house yesterday - jeeze just dire and often nowhere near as well produced as peoples stuff on here so maybe us guys worry a bit too much sometimes.

Ok I get ya now.
Deffo trying to alter the snare as you suggest.

I might put this out for remix if anyone is interested. You'd do a cleaner track drum wise.

I honestly don't think you should change a thing. Sometimes it's best not to think about the way things should be and trust your instincts.

You're actually pretty at that :p

See - I agree with this. But at the same time I feel like the track was done a few iterations ago. Some of the synth lines added on top of the bass and the effects take away from it a little. You know?

And don't get me wrong, there is a reason I'm paying so much attention to this thread, I LOVE this track.
