Dj Mag top 100 Dj's. Your thoughts (pg. 4)

i'll tell you why, again.
2) the "top" artist listed are not popular amongs people who go to concerts, people who go to clubs and people who have been following the EDM path. they are mostly there from people who never know anything and most likely never go to a show!. i mean my uncle, in albania, who cares about this music. never has never will , voted for his top 5 albanian folkloric bands. does he have the right to vote for his bands? of course. should he be allowed to do it at this poll? no!
1) Geography! because people like my uncle are allowed to vote, djs who would play some fantastic shows are not booked here in the states! why? because the top dj mag has shown little demographics for them. So all the agents book on people who are most likely popular! i mean how could they afford to book a venue, hotels, ticket and all expensive for a good talent. i am not blaming the promoters i am blaming the media marketing and promotion. This poll could show talent instead of fame, and we would have some awesome festivals here instead of sitting by the computer and watching live streams. |

I actually disagree on this. There is a new breed of people who go to festivals, shows, clubs and they are outnumbering the people who have been in the scene for a long time. Why? Most of the people who are been in the scene for years (counted in double digits) just simply don't care anymore. And why should you?
Let me be 100% real here, I don't think ANY of you would want that the likes of Diggers, Sasha, Hawtin, Vath, Guy J, J00F (and so forth) would be in the top 10 or in top 5 even. Not with having to deal with the average clubber (the new breed of clubbers) around and all that mainstream effects it brings with it.
That's why I see a little conflict of interest here.

I really don't understand the point here. It's international poll. Meaning global. As in worldwide.
So the problem would also be global and wouldn't just affect United States.
I still think the best way to get your favorite artist here is to influence the party organizers to get them here or become one yourself. Last I checked, USA is a somewhat of a free country so you could still take the initiative yourself. |

| Is this all about someone's favorite dj didn't make the list? Well..if you're the only one who votes for him, he'll never crack the top 100. If others aren't voting for your favorite dj...well, he's not that popular. its quite simple. |

| There are so many more productive things you could be doing than arguing over this poll. The poll and it's rankings only mean something if you let them. Don't let this poll dictate how you feel about the DJ's you love. Simple as that. |

Zack and Ramsau: solid points, completely agree.
That being said: why do any of "us" care? Its the same , different year. None of "us" fans should really give two s about where our favorites ended up. Perhaps the DJ's may care, particularly the bigger names, as this poll may have an impact on their money in an indirect (direct?) way.
But, how does this affect us in any way? Is anyone here really going to stop seeing Sasha or Hernan because they are out of the Top 100? Hell no. If one is upset, then it is simply a sign of of pride: we just wanna see our guys/girls name up there, but in the end, it doesn't really matter. Like Ramsau said, as fan, we are probably better off NOT having our guys in the Top 10.
Annually, the most senseless conversation ever. Moving on. |

tiesto's cockyness has hit a whole new level. the other day a girl tweeted him saying "i want the old tiesto back" and he replied to her in 3rd person "listen to his older albums." what a douchebag. |

Actually, that's not true.
DJ Mag's poll is not about talent at all. They don't claim to crown the most talented DJ in the world. All they do is give people a platform to vote for their own favorites.
Year after year, people freak out over who wins, and where their own favorite DJs place in the rankings. I don't get it.
DJ Mag does not run a talent contest....they simply run a popularity contest. If Armin is the #1 DJ, it only means that more people voted for him this year than any other DJ. It has nothing to do with him being the best or most talented. |
Yeah, this.
I've been avoiding this thread, particularly because the same ing conversation happens evvveryyy singleeee yearrrrrr and frankly this discussion is more repetitive than the Beatport Trance Top 10.
I have to point out, though, that people need to stop saying "best" DJs when they refer to this poll. It's a POPULARITY contest. Skrillex is in the top 10, and he's not even a DJ. Tiesto is in the top 10 and he hasn't made a good song in 8 years. Armin, well, I'm happy that he's at #1 over all the other morons. He's hit or miss now-a-days, which is a lot more than I can say for the rest of the top 10.
afk waiting for TA top 250. |

you guys are ignoring the major influence that this poll has. ask your promoters to book anyone in that list. see who they will actually book.
i mean how many times have we begged in here to see a dj? why don't they? easy, demographics! ask them to book Dash Berlin , gereth emery and the other whores. they will do it in a heartbeat!
Who do you see , constantly whoring for attention on you social media websites? the talented djs? or the ty ones? who make one song and think they deserve 1st spot and they are forcing this poll down your throat? Every two minutes "vote for me, blah blah blah" |
