you guys are ignoring the major influence that this poll has. ask your promoters to book anyone in that list. see who they will actually book.

What promoters are you talking about? Made? Insomniac?

Because if you arent, do you really believe that BLKMarket is gonna stop booking Sasha, Hernan, Zabs, Diggers, MJC, Marco Carola, Paco Osuna, and Sven because they have fallen to a /non-existent ranking? Do you think that Massive is not going to book Sean Tyas any more because he has "fallen from grace" at the lowly ranking of #93rd? Or they will not book Kyau and Albert because they are ranked #147th....oh wait, they just did. And, I betcha Carl Cox, Joris Voorn, Simon Patterson, Guy J and DJ Eco will never see a gig again because of this very poll!!!

 :haha:

C'mon lets get real.
a.l.d.i.
lol.. last time i checked syan tyas played in sullie not somewhere bigger. same goes for most of the names.

yes this poll is effective because its it the only one people know about. they don't know RA top poll just like almost everyone out of this board does not know about TA poll.

So you are saying that Diggers has only been in NYC once this year?

:haha:

i got mix feelings about this. a lot of people including for myself pulled together for armin since guetta's bull. i rather see him up there as #1 than any other electro house djs. you can't deny the fact that dude works harder than any other dj out there. at the end, he is still labeled as a trance dj even though his sound has been fluffy for a while.

i kinda don't agree with people who say his crowd likes the pop music he plays. if you guys follow some topic on internet forums when armin has a live gig going on, they love hearing dash berling cheese, but once he starts bringing in 140bpm, they love it even more. he can play 140bpm from start to finish and he wouldn't loose any fans at all. people will still continue listening to him, and perhaps, while he still has the same crowd listening to him, he would gain the attention of older trance fans like; aystar, a.l.d.i, and on. no matter what armin plays, his crowd will be there. so there is no need for him to play that cheesy .

He was at D36 last May, this summer on the island and in a week he will be here again. Not to mention the festivals. He has also been booked in DC, etc...Aldi is trying to make the point that "promoters wont book because of the List" (his words, not mine), when in fact, he is here often enough and still continues to be booked and WILL be booked in the future. He isnt going to disappear off the face of the earth because of his ranking in this stupid poll, c'mon now!

Edit: he also mentioned that Sean Tyas "only" played at Sully. Well, which is it? You dont want your guys at festivals, and you dont want them at clubs, so where now? Are you only happy if your DJ is #1, but with only a few select followers over the age of 25, who aren't guidos or druggie neon whores and will play in only warehouses or your backyard?

Smdh....

Burak: agreed.

oh yea d36 was epic i forgot, i thought it was 2010 lol iam shot

ok so he is generally averageing 1 club gig a year in nyc, def not enuff imo
but at the same time you can def agree that the club scene in nyc def fell off and isent catering to him or dj's like him that much as they once did.
big clubs up here are pretty much dead and the ones that remain open cater to the new generation of dj's as well as new generation of clubbers combined with selling bottles and tables
alot of dj's who come here spin more underground parties now
which imo is good and bad

Unfortunately we're made to care. Some fans care too much, but regardless, there IS a connection with quality and frequency of bookings and the number we landed on in DJ Mag.

Like a few people have mentioned, the Gareth Emerys and Hardwells get the high quality, high volume NYC/LA/Miami gigs, 3-5 times a year.

In most cases (not all), if you make the Top 100, you enter a territory in which your managers can get you $10,000+ per gig, and not $800 anymore. Obviously guys like Sasha or Sven Vath are exempt form this type of thing, really, but the young'ns like myself are kind of hanging on for dear life, whereas entrance into the Top 100 means you've "made it" and can enjoy a full-time musical career on top of a financially comfortable lifestyle. You're not really a "starving artist" anymore. Obviously, not everyone outside of the Top 100 is a "starving artist", but a lot are.

It's easy to write it off; I think it's as un-legit as the next guy. But, the impact it has on the profession is unfortunately way more profound than you can imagine.
