If you've already pre-sold tickets at the door then who cares about the people waiting without tickets? You've already made your money at the door. Honour those who made the effort and planned to be there way before.
Just my two cents. |
$30 presale with tax via a website with financial records etc...
vs.
$50-$100 CASH at the door, no record ;) |

This scene was never built on who gets in to a club based on their status or money. I think that's my biggest issue, that they're selectively choosing who gets in. I know other EDM clubs around the world do that too, but that doesn't make it right for them either. I expect this sort of stuff at top 40 clubs, but not EDM clubs. Along with things like dresscode and stuff...it's really ruining the essence of what this music is about. |
It wasn't? One of the biggest influences in terms of clubs the past in Montreal was Sona (Think Delta Heavy tour with Sasha and Diggers and Jimmy Van M opening.). They had a face policy. It wasn't about money or status either, they just chose who got it and who didn't. This made legendary parties that were built on into something bigger, but that is bad for the scene. I'm not calling you a loser either, just the doorman probably thought you were. That is not my fault. There are no wookies in Endor. |

I think all this negativity could have been easily avoided if the bouncers/security made it a point to ensure the line was orderly, and not a complete free for all like the pictures suggest it was. |
Yup! |

I do think that it is shameless that certain clubs only allow people in based on their look...Nobbie...this has happened at TIL a few times actually right in front of my eyes. Large group of guys only...denied entry on basis of club at capacity. Meanwhile no line outside and when i got inside i noticed the club far from capacity.
Footwork does not partake in such activities...this is a simple open and shut case of "it was busy...get there early or don't get in".
Could security have controlled that lineup better...maybe but I wasn't there so I've leave the people who stood in that line to comment on it. |

| also if you're going to clubs to oogle at "hot girls"....there is the Brant House right down the street. |

| lol same thing happened at the MJC show... at first there was one line then 3 other lines sprung up, waited at the front of the line for a good 30min-1h watching a new line get in and when my friend asked the bouncer about it he said if you dont know dont ask. i got in right after he didnt... when people say get there for 9pm its a good sign to avoid going |

I guess it's different strokes for different folks, I know you guys complain about the drunken idiots at TiL, but I had no problem with them plus hotter chicks come out there as well. I just can't understand why anyone would think still think that Footwork was better than TiL around the time when TiL had those great Friday nights. |
lol, wtf are you talking about?
You are making zero sense.
Am I the only person that think this guy's posts are nonsensical and intensely annoying? |

And Art Department a little while back and Maceo Plex too (but they had advanced tickets for this one thankfully and I was able to get in)

Making the tickets an extra $10 or $15 would also make sure the people that want to go the most get tickets (and would cover the lost bar sales from not having the club fill up as fast). |
I'm a person who usually works until 9:30-10pm uptown on weekends and am not able to make it early to these events. Advanced tickets at a higher price would be my choice too. The average joe wouldn't pay those prices for a DJ he doesn't know whereas us fans would. Perfect example was the Kollektiv/Sasha event. I don't know if footwork & the promoters made as much money as they were expecting to but that was a solid event.
A friend of mine went down at 11 for Marco and before they even got there I told them not to bother because I knew the line would be a show, but they ended up going back around 3:30-4am and got in.
I think I've learned my lesson and won't be going for big DJ's such as that @ FW from now on (unless there are adv. ticks) or I'm miraculously able to get there very early because I've failed to get in so many times before (at least 2 or 3 times this year alone).. Some sort of line control would help but the bouncers make some great cash at times like that so I don't see it improving too much. |
