i do have a feeling that someone is def behind this.
there has not been any heat on nyc clubs in a while (overdose,high drug sales,articles in the paper etc etc) so the cops would really have no big reason to shut down over something they claim to be overcappacity...it was a legal venue sucks for sure
and this isent gonna set the tone for when all those new clubs open up (space nyc,cielo in bk etc etc)

Come on, you posted a cryptic "We know what you did" on facebook after Lawler got shut down, thus fueling speculation as to who ed you guys over. Everyone is just trying to figure out why this is happening so often, and since we are not privy to inside information we are shooting in the dark.
I don't think last night was a conspiracy theory, unless you guys called it in since you typically bring in Dubfire, and the last time you booked him didn't work out over the summer. ;)
Anyway, Dubfire was awesome for an hour, Shaded was great too. Hopefully I get a refund and he comes back soon. I'm getting real sick of these shut downs though.

before s&b get on my case, I dont mean that you would, or that i would expect you to, post the REAL reason, or your thoughts about it, but:
to state what the official reason given by the PD was for their action.
Despite all, this is still a country of laws, which means they can't just do it, they have have reason.
Of course we know the reason proffered could be, or is, just so much bull , but they still have to give one.
And promoters or venue owners, will know it, or have right to the official reason.
And that is what has NOT been stated when asked: why?
Why does it matter if its all just a front anyway?
Because we have a bureaucracy that wants to maintain the appearance of "the free country".
Thus official complaints testing reason provided, must be answered, and that answer can be disputed with facts.
Not something promoters actually should do, they have direct skin in the game. But we don't, and could, rather than blowing hot air here, do this.
BUT NOT IF THE OFFICIALREASON ISN'T EVEN OUT THERE!
fwiw, just so I'm not just one of the hot air blowers, I FOILed the Lawler event, but that takes weeks, nothing back yet.
to the comment above about "stupid to advertise the 10am" closing:
why not, theres no law against it,IF the venue licenses cover it.
After "Illuminate" I went to another promoters event (no names here o.c.) that was held in the exact same venue as Basic's Lawler. That one started at 6am, and went well into the afternoon
same promoter does a lot of afterword events, starting at four am+, no prob.
and seeing the amount of open RADII-spoon usage at some of those events recently, and the always open bar,neither of those seem to be a problem either, though of course the blow could be...
And if we were to find out, going back to the above, that a shutdown was legitimate due to overselling, thats good to, because when a known cap. venue is oversold with non-refundable tickets, theres only one word for it:
fraud!cause something that CAN'T be delivered legitimately, is being sold.
The Steez people did that to more than 4000 people at Seascape this year

I just don't think it's Pacha, based on what I know of them and the relationships I have with them. So when I see everyone jump to conclusions so quickly, I feel obligated to say something.
I thought everyone wanted me to dish info...but when I do, people start crabbing at me. I'm not just going to run with whatever theories everyone is floating around. And it's not my position to prove everyone otherwise. I'm just telling you what I think at the moment. I've never been one to run with the masses anyhow.
And only because I said something on Facebook, that doesn't mean I have to come here and discuss it. It's two different arenas of communication and I prefer to keep it like that. If you want clarity about something, you can ask me personally and then I'll make that decision. There's this assumption here that everyone is entitled to know everything,, and I don't share that viewpoint - especially when the people asking me for info call me names, or even make off-handed comments that I'm responsible for shutting down dubfire. Seriously?
