a lot. that was played everywhere. I remember going to random clubs that played hip hop and top 40 and late in the night they would play sandstorm. has to be the most played edm record of all time in the states before the rise of guetta and aviici.

This isn't the strongest track on it, but the new DFRNT is also really good, one of my favourites of the year. Quite a few dub techno tracks infused with soulful post-dubstep sampling. Might be of interest to you Woony, regarding your endless dub techno acceptance angst.
This track is absolutely ing spectacular. How could I miss this album?

1) Vince Watson - Every Soul Needs A Guide
Although agreeing with Jack regarding the "a bit too much in the long run" part, I really love this type of sound. It also opened my eyes towards searching for more older melodic techno and expanding my knowledge of the genre.
2) Fort Romeau - Kingdoms
Overlooked by many, this was a short, nice, deep-house album which reminded me of an event from many years ago when waiting for the buss in the middle of the night near a port. Not a very serious piece of electronic music, but one that really touched me.
3) Terrence Dixon - From The Far Future Part II
Felt as if he managed better at being Robert Hood than Robert Hood. Loved the Detroit roots embedded in this album combined with some magnificent sound-scapes.
4) Deepchord - Sommer
I know there are some real dub-techno experts here, so I'll be wary :P: The genre really didn't get to me until my realization that I listened to it in the wrong environment. Instead of letting it be a part of the things surrounding me, the music was listened like everything else - on my headphones. For some reason, I found most dub-techno extremely boring, although appreciating the sounds.
As opposed to "Silent World", it felt as if this was a much more playful and relaxed approach from Modell. "Cruising Towards Dawn" left me speechless as well as being one of my favorite tracks of 2012.
5) ASC - Out of Sync
Nothing to say. Great music. Ambient/DnB isn't really my thing, but this really felt as something else. Maybe in a few years, if appreciating the genre better, it could even be retro-considered #1 of 2012.

I love Terrence Dixon's sound, but the album was kind of underwhelming to me. There's only like 3 tracks on there that make sense.
The Polar Inertia EPs aren't that interesting musically, but the skit type tracks are the real stars. I think they actually hired a voice actor to tell the story which I personally haven't seen done before.
