Oh, Poor Matthew! (A teary farewell from a frustrated member) (OP is also evil!) (pg. 12)

Multiple suspensions is indeed a good reason to no longer give out warnings. If he's been suspended lots of times, he should be contacting you before posting something stupid, not you contacting him afterwards (except to suspend him).

It depends on the infringement though. We have to keep you mofos on your toes. That's the beauty of EVERY FORUM EVER :gsmile: |

No, not really. Many forums have rules/guidelines for posting, some that can be read even before signing up. None of that on TA; we expect you to be able to think for yourself.
You walk a fine line, albeit a pretty liberal one. So, a nice thick line :gsmile: |

There's forums I post on where that's how it's done, it's a pretty normal/common procedure on forums.
I mean obviously people post annoying stuff all the time, but suffice to say if you're going to post a long sexist rant about why men are evil it might be a wise idea to send your post to a mod first to get approval first (which obviously isn't going to be granted). That way he'd be able to avoid suspensions by simply having certain (very rare but potentially highly offensive) posts vetted by mods first. I mean you know, maybe all the male members of the forum don't want to hear about how evil they are and how it's all their fault? How did that not run through his head first?

Not sure if that's directed at me or posters generally (the word you is a bit vague sometimes). I'm not terribly worried about me getting suspended any time soon, although the only thing I will say is I've certainly seen firsthand really dumb moderation decisions against me. |

That sounds massively lame, I'm not even kidding here.
"Excuse me, moderator, is it ok if I post this?"
:wtf:
Like I said before, on TA you're expected to think for yourself. If you're a muppet, then that's gonna cost you.

It's like you're living in a different world :wtf: Matt's post was sexist against males now? Where do you come up with this? Please tell me you didn't take his rantings literally.

The joke aside, "you" was general, not just for yourself.
It's part of the fun here. I think, actually, that you have a poor sense of humour. It goes a fair way to explain a lot of your posts, especially recently. |

Yeh fair enough, I just think the moderation on here needs to change and I was offering suggestions. That could be an incredibly one.

Whether or not I can tell whether that guy is being ironic or not has very little to do with my sense of humour. It has to do with mostly the fact that I hardly ever ing read his posts. I can tell when you're ing around or pkc or most others but that guy I usually don't pay attention to. No I didn't realise he was joking, he made this long post that was really annoying and I suppose I did indeed misunderstand it. That's life. The who thought that when I posted that "hi guys I have a small penis" I was being serious also didn't understand my sense of irony either.
Also, yeh I'm probably a bit annoying and I should possibly post less. It's hard to tell though, there's certain people that love to be really loud and obnoxious while simultaneously claiming to speak for the majority (ssrussell maybe?, he seems to be far more reasonable/amusing lately though). I've learnt to never take dykes on jay seriously anymore after he repeatedly attempted to point out factual flaws in my post that could easily be dismissed via google. That guy is just ing retarded and doesn't even try to hide it, hence ignore list. With others it's harder to know whether they're just being an obnoxious or they're actually thinking what everyone else is thinking and responding angrily, not just claiming to.

I'd also like to add that with humour, there's no such thing as poor, only different. If I keep posting things here that aren't funny and or misunderstanding people's jokes then absolutely I should stop trying to do that, but i could make my friends laugh easier than you guys could. Basically I just need to adjust to the forum, it doesn't actually mean that I'm an unfunny in every situation i get into in life generally just because the demographic of this forum thinks so.

While I think the moderation on here could do with some tweaking, that's generally a good philosophy. |

No, there definitely is. It's a "sense" of humour. That means it's not just about making people laugh, at all, but understanding other people's humour as well. Different, or otherwise. |

Again, for those of you still wondering, Matt was not banned, it was a 2 week suspension. He was the one that flipped out and claimed he's leaving the site permanently. And that's his choice.
I'm amazed that this is still being discussed :wtf: |

This isn't my first account, I've been around since 2007.
Also, as people have said before, I can't actually do anything, all I do is winge. Sometimes that's effective though. |
