His comments weren't ambiguous, at all, nor do they need be overt to be trivializing. I realize this isn't a victim-survival, self-help forum and that it's inappropriate to levy an expectation that my feelings be taken into accord with coddling sensitivity. If you want to dispute the validity of Matt's suspension on that merit, there's the ground for it. What you can't tell me, however, is that Matt's position is ambiguous when it conspicuously ascribes the same malice to the theft of the neighbor's garden gnome as it does to the taking of human life. I wouldn't console a survivor, who'd recently lost someone to violence, with the reassurance that they were as evil as the person who took their loved one's life; regardless of the fact that such an assertion is plainly bogus. I suspect you wouldn't either.
Is he trolling? Probably so. Should it be taken with a grain of salt (even if he believes it)? A case could be made for that, as well. Is it something I should be asked to tolerate without objection? Perhaps, but I have no remorse, what-so-ever, about objecting. |

| Right or wrong, don't you feel a little bad about his feelings which i'm going to assume are rather hurt. I don't know. I am certain he is reading this and I think you made your point. I love a good mudd flinging but it stops being fun when people are hurt beyond a certain point. Unelss you were harassed then i don't know. This is all just not very christmassy. |

He hasn't harassed me and you're right - I've made my point. He can take the time to respond to it, as he sees fit. By mud-flinging standards around here, this is relatively tame, however. Apart from the OP, most of it revolves around me explaining myself in a way that, although critical of Matt's behavior and ideas, doesn't discount him as a person.
For what it's worth, I don't dislike Matt and hope that he comes back. I've said it before but he has a knack for generating conversation in Music Discussion that surpasses most people's ability. He also knows about a lot of music I may not have heard, were it not for him. If I feel badly it's because I know he's capable of more than what set me off. I've told him this before, as well.
