I highly dislike being around people who are actually racist, and what's concidered racist or not certainly varies a lot between the US and Australia... so it's good to know he can make an accurate assesment about whether or not I'm racist especially when being racist goes against my political ideology in a rather extreme way (in a way that you know, making racist jokes doesn't). Suffice to say when I say the cor needs more mods the reasons are more than just "lots of spam gets past".
I suspect the lesson here is "Don't be an annoying ing berk, or people might just get sick of you one day."

My issue isn't with me getting suspended, it's with whoever decided to do it was obviously annoyed with me for a very long time and they decided to find some dumb excuse to do it. They can add a section to the forum rules that says "we ban people for being annoying" and then they can do what they want.
At least be upfront about why you're doing it.

I sent him an explanation right away explaining why I had suspended him.
Edit: As for banning people for their stupidity, idiocy, or obnoxiousness, I believe most mods agree I tend to be very lenient, having always refused to suspend users for these reasons.
Matt was annoying, yes. Matt was incredibly dull, right. But I didn't ban him for either reason.

I agree with that. This community has essentially become a group of friends who reject newcomers we don't like and embrace those who fit with our outlook. As someone who's part of the in-crowd, I'm quite happy with that, because forums are communities and should not be ruled by the whims of one idealistic administrator.

Certainly it looks like the mods are in the right in this case, and even if they weren't... they can always just do a better job next time.

If swamper wants to randomly start banning people he can do that... but it's not like he just suddenly banned 1/3 of the users. Banning the troublesome 5% occasionally for no real reason and just waiting on the sides is shifty as hell.
This isn't an invite only or an extremely private forum and never has been, making it become that way slowly is rather strange.

Or because, as I pointed out earlier, you actually bought Matt's defence despite the fact it had nothing to do with his suspension.

From what I've seen of you, you're good... sushi made some naieve calls back 6 months ago but is getting better and swamper just pisses me off and always has ultimately. A forum this size cannot be run by one person for a variety of reasons suffice to say.

Have a look at how the twcenter forum bureacracy works, now obviously we wouldn't want a "no insults model" of moderation, but we could have all warnings be public if the person who is warned chooses to make them so.
