You can read my signatures. I believe in evolving styles but when that style is really popular and all of a sudden all of the dj's have evolved in the same manner I call bull.
Look PLUR is dead, I haven't gone to an event where I feel PLUR from anyone except a handful of people and those people I love. Shoving, pushing, ry and that's not even at a SHM show. The word PLUR has been bastardized.
Hi, Pantaloon! (that is what is in my head every time I see your posts, which is funny because I love colours as well especially red)
I am sorry you feel that the PLUR is gone. I personally never followed that mantra but I have always tried to be friendly. There was always pushing and shoving but when you are younger you like it more or notice it less.
At the SHM show, there was a group of young people in front of us that reminded me of me when I was 20. They were nice, wide eyed and loving life. No pushing or shoving. They even gave me numerous high fives. I dunno, was much better than the chin scratchers I sometimes see at clubs standing in the corner and brooding that the DJ messed up a mix or hasn't played the latest of the underground.
You people all need to chill man! There is enough music and events to go around for everyone.

For some reason this makes me visualize Yohan standing on the dancefloor with his arms crossed and an unimpressed look on his face :haha:

Speaking of old age. I have come to learn that when I do drink now which is seldom due to working 7 days a week, but when i doooooo, I am an angry mean drunk. No Plur here at all. My ghetto comes out.
back to SHM, who cares if people buy it.Enjoy what you find enjoyable, go to the shows that you find interesting, stop thinking that because something sells it somehow it effects your wants and needs from the industry.
I was seeing this young girl. She was never into the scene she went to the SHM show last week, she has been introduced now and is loving it. She texts me about what festivals are good, what clubs play good house music etc. Every genre has its cheese. Cheese is a waterdowned introduction into a genre made for the masses to grasp them and pull them in. Without the jay-z's there wouldn't be a market for the del the funky homospaien's or Dillon Cooper's. Without the Justin Timberlake's there wouldn't be enough money for the Frank Ocean's. etc.
Just be happy your genre finally has introduction pamphlet now with the SHM's and Guetta's. It's EDM 101 for the kids

OMGOMGOMG I have tonnes of fun, pretty much from the time I get up to the time I go to bed. My work is fun, my leisure activities are fun, and I have fun spending time with my spouse, friends and family. It's just that my definition of fun doesn't include further lining the already brimming coffers of Rogers Communications (with nearly $5 billion in profit for 2012), nor providing the means for a what's widely perceived as a fakeassed pop act to clothe themselves in a wardrobe that's worth several times more than the average monthly food budget for a family in this city.
And while Vivid makes a valid point that shows like this can serve as a gateway to more discerning taste, my guess is that the percentage of people in attendance who go on to explore the more refined corners of the scene is miniscule. There are a lot of people out there who are quite comfortable with conformity and safeness, which is why events like these are so popular in the first place. Let's be realistic - the majority of those who attended this show aren't going to suddenly start clamouring for more underground parties, they're simply going to seek out more of the same.
Chacun à son goût - just as you're well within your right to be a cheerleader for SHM, I too feel the right to call this a profit-minded pop concert that has very little connection with that which I love and cherish about electronic music. It also doesn't even remotely mean that I don't know how to have fun, fun, fun. OMG.

Yeah, who says that complaining on the internet can't be fun!
