What's wrong with keeping a massive bitch-fest quarantined to one thread (all threads like that get locked eventually, so putting a "time limit" on it isn't that big of a deal) rather than having six or eight threads about the same ing argument, some of which started out with interesting discussion only to be destroyed?
It's a small rule whose impact you really wouldn't see, and is designed to increase the quality of posts here. Again, if you want total anarchy and asshats, go to 4Chan. |

These new ideas essentially just limit the amount of flaming going on here. That's what happened here, that's what happens every few months, that's what these rules are designed to diffuse. Arguments and free speech are fine, but massive forum-wide bitchfests are tired and pointless, and will be eliminated. |
Not a all, I understand what you guys are talking about. The thing is that these forum-wide bitchfests are part of the narrative, I also happen to find them amusing and sometimes hilarious. I'm sure some people would side with me on that. Stop worrying so much about "diffusing" anything.
