| i wasnt there but my assumption would be that the sound was quiet due to noise issues, no? |

hmm... sounds like a case of overhype and lots of last min show ups overwhelming the event planners? |
No actually it seemed like a lack care of everyone involved. Music was nice. |

| I didn't go, but I'm really, really curious as to how promoters so often seem to miscalculate or outright neglect the single most important aspect of a party. |

The food situation was brutal!
We stood in line for 2.5 hour and ended up with no food whatsoever, even though we paid we decided to cut our losses and go to Shopsy's. I don't even fault the workers there, or even the caterers for miscalculating (fine you miscalculated) but could you not just let people know that you are either running or that the wait is so long. We would have gone out and eaten, but once you have invested half an hour whats another half an hour, then you find yourself after 75 minutes finally paying thinking maybe 15 minutes more and 75 minutes later still no food.
Didn't really hear any music because of the stupid food line, booze was fast and quick though.
All in all was a day of lines.
Will not come back!
Thank god for friends! |

Agreed. Way too many missions involved.
I still wouldn't compare it to cherry beach. That event has been running for years. |

| Hopefully the organizers take all the criticisms here and turn them into something great next event on the island :) |

Its the first event so it will prbly get better in some areas...
The sound was low but not if you were up front... but a speaker stack in the back would make up for it.... i ate before hand because you know it just seemed a hell of alot smarter then having to wait in another line that was easily very likely to happen...
My biggest complaint was how unorganized the line to get in was....
All in all i still had a great time and will go to the next one if the line up is as good... |

I had a great time.
But if there is one thing that needs work it is the sound, pretty much needed to be right up front the entire time to hear the music.
Mfr were good, nitin was kinda boring, Seth was fun and great IMO.
Def in for the next one. |
My feelings exactly! Can't wait for next one, when kinks have been worked out. |

There were just under 2,500 people on the FB invite, yet according to some estimates from people I know who work on the Toronto Island on a regular basis, there were up to 5,000 people there. Doubling the number of expected customers will create a cluster logistically no matter what business you're in. I don't think anyone could have anticipated that kind of a turn out.
I didn't go this time, but I trust that the next time the organizers will iron out the kinks, expecting a lot more walk-up customers this time.
Also, I do hope the sound issues get worked out the next time because there is nothing worse than going to a party to hear a DJ and having terrible sound.
I was at Piknic Electronic on Sunday and the sound there was better than most night clubs in Toronto. Very crisp, no distortion, not too loud, and packed quite a punch. It was by Moog Audio, and damn did they ever do a good job.
All in all (and again I didn't attend), I think it's amazing that someone has finally found a way to do a party on the Toronto Island. I look forward to the next edition. |
