Thanks, good article and kind of what has been slowly happening over the last 5 years.
TBH, Pro tools is somewhat really an engineer's or facilities tool now, even with the advent of it going native; The cost, especially of plugins is now further contrasted against LPX, which frankly is probably the best deal for a DAW that has ever been offered.
I don't know a single composer that works in PTHD, and the vast majority bar a couple that use cubase, are all LP but all their facilities are PTHD. This is really the defacto standard now - create, produce, compose in LPX, Engineer, Track, Mix & Dub in PTHD.
Apple want to sell millions of things to millions of people at consumer prices, Avid want to sell a small number of things to a select group at high prices. All makes sense. |

At $200 you shouldn't be pissed; it's less than than the upgrade costs for most other daws out there. , it's cheaper than a lot of plugins. |

i really wouldn;t advise that Juan.
As a pro tools engineer for 10 years, I can promise you, that for what you;re doing, LPX is a better platform.
There's several thousand dollars worth of investment there that you literally will never use. I mean we use it 24/7 at the studio on projects that would make most grown men have an aneurysm just looking at the mixer page and would say we're probably only using 20% of PTHD's total functionality.
Creating = logic
Tracking/mixing = PTHD |

first: youre not gonna get it because its 200 (u just used 180 on a new ssd thinking it would get you better sound though) and you want pthd instead for some manic reason.
second: someone tells you that your choise is retard
third: you turn over and get logic instead
my god do you ever get things done? your setup is constantly changing daws, computers, synths, monitors.
there is no integrity in what you are doing what so ever and there is no ing way you can know how any of your stuff is working in so short time before changing.
its like you just do whatever someone tells you to do, except the best advice of all: quit production all together and stick with djeing (youre actually a decent dj if i recall correctly).
and also: who pays for all your bad decisions? i hope ing not your parents? i feel sorry for them having such a braindead kid when it comes to money.
if its your own earned money ill shut up, people are entitled to do whatever they want with their own money. but if its your parents hard earned money you are using then shame on you. seriously get a grip.
also you might need some professional help with your dellusions. ive experienced GAS myself but yours are totaly out of control and its obvious that youre trying to compensate for something else lacking in your life. take drugs instead maybe? its cheaper. |

my music is actually quite good using 1998 standards (the decade i still live in).
