Harrison Ford is the best actor I'm the world. You should be ashamed of yourself for making such absurd claims.

Yeah, limiting yourself can produce some good stuff, but pack it up with some cool tricks and you have a hit, simple track with no pretentious bull, and without having to say "it develops soon, just give it a minute".That's what the masses dig.

A bouncy lead sequence, simple but creative use of the snare drums, memorable melody and a fail-safe track structure = a disposable but win track teenage girls feel sentimental about when they hear it years after.

Good post Vernon.

Do you guys think a lot comes down to being able to very forensically imagine the right sounds and fx before you find them / make them?

Like that producer said recently in a vid here, you need funky bones right? I might have to concede I just don't have em!

This thread is somewhat inspired by seandroid - he posted up that Siren/Clown house track as a joke that took him an hour to make and got something like 3000 plays and a million comments. It was literally a noise sweep and childish bassline, all with that SHM/EC/LBL vibe and people just lap that up.

That video of guetta a while back, discussing production techniques showed how much he feels this crap. It's quite amazing to me.

See I would argue droids music is well advanced and actually pretty tricky to get down. I don't think I could mimic what he made there.

This for me is a central point - the good people always make it look easy.

BIG ROOM FEEL - My young Brother tells me that droid track and the first one Vernon posted here in this thread has a 'big room feel' whereas other forum demos (inc' my own) he usually makes me turn off after 5 seconds as he says he just knows they will be crap as the grove isn't tight and the aesthetic doesn't grab him and he is typical of your music consumer.

I just asked him to pin down this 'big room feel', what does he mean by this?

His answer is that it's a bit cheesy (just as you pointed out Rann)but also just the right side of credible and dark at the same time.

He can enjoy the more sophist acted tracks you would enjoy but in terms of simple accessibility and having a fun dance off he would prefer the tracks you hate. He said it's all about the immediacy and feel, the conjuring up of holiday memories etc.

BTW I didn't realise you made your own , any chance I can take a listen?

... . i would say, in electronic music especially, defining yourself melodically is also to define yourself minimally.

I think the same quation is, how could a guy just put a dot on a canvas and have it sitting one of the biggest art showw in new york.
