Course I am. Screwing this guy won't help me, but it will make me feel better.

Little back story:

Its a 6 story building with 1 unit on each floor. I'm on the 5th and the landlord with his extended family live on the 6th. The landlord owns the building.

So the day after I move in I realize that my buzzer to let ppl into the building doesn't work. This is actually part of the building and not my apartment. It's only my floor that doesn't work, because the phone is all funked up. Normally the landlord should fix this but he says any problem I have after signing the contract is my problem.

Also in the contract I agreed to keep the stairs outside my unit clean. I thought this meant not to throw my garbage there or really mess it up. But after I moved in, he started asking me to mop it weekly! Mind you, he has a family of 6 that lives above me and walk past my floor everyday. I live by myself. So he basically wants me to mop up after his ty family.

The list of bull goes on and on. I have the feeling he's gonna stiff me out of my deposit too, but I have to hold on hope that I can still somehow recover it. Regardless, I want to pull one on him before I get out.

Buddy, you won't with your landlord by screwing with his apartments. You gotta up HIS apartment, because he won't be living where you were (with good reason!)

Good point. No matter what you do, he'll be like...

Buy a big syringe, fill it with egg white or some other smelly liquid with a latency period (don't use feces - they smell right from the start, then when they dry up they don't smell at all), insert the needle into different places of the wallpaper \ baseboard \ door lining \ wherever you can so that the holes are not visible and spray it in. This has to be done just before your landlord arrives to check the place. It won't stink for some time but then it'll stink badly for some time, penetrating through the material, and the source(s) of the smell will be hard to locate and get rid of. Even if your landlord is not going to live there he will constantly receive complaints and people will probably move out and take their rent back. You can also try a more extreme method - stuff the place with frozen fish just before his arrival.

Also, you can just brutally axe-murder your landlord.

because you would be a dick landlord, and then ... karma?

Whatever you do, there is almost no chance of your even finding out if your little plot works the way you want it to; you can but use your imagination after you're long gone to envision his reaction to such a discovery, which begs the question: why go through all the bother and not just fantasize about this in the first place?

There is probably a good chance you will find out how it turns out, should you decide to sabotage a leased dwelling in which the immediately previous occupant was, you know, you. But I'm guessing it will be enclosed in a manila envelope.

I just don't understand why he didn't know the rental agreement? I'm not saying it was a good one, but he agreed to it, so at least understand what you are agreeing to. If the landlord is being a dick and violating the landlord tenant act (which we have in canada) then report it! Don't they have a similar system in the states? I have a hard time believing there isn't. Why not have him shut down would that not be a better result?

Yes, I am sure the Argentinean authorities will leap to action to defend people from predatory landowners. Also, even here in North America, getting litigious ing sucks. 99% of the time, you are better off just walking away.

What you described is neither uncommon or egregious to warrant doing anything. If you have a beef with the landlord then speakup or move out. Passive aggressive stuff is for immature weaklings.

Is he really from Argentina? I thought this was an alt :/

Oh, who knows. But can you imagine being ted at your landlord because he stipulated IN WRITING reasonable snow removal in front of your apartment door (assuming outdoor entrances)?

I think it's kind of funny that he got conned into mopping a hallway after a family of 6, to be honest. As someone who is worried about his deposit, I hope he has some brief fun destroying the apartment and then lawyering up / ruining his rental history.
