1) Dont be FOOL people, ¿do you REALLY THINK Bush actions are caused by his desire to make this a better world? YEAH RIGHT!
2) I agree Saddam is a son of a bitch.
3) US didn't CARED when Irak used chem weapons against Iran. They just use this argument in order to convince us.
4) Being a democracy IS NO JUSTIFICATION. Ok, the US bombs here and there, but HEY, it's a D-E-M-O-C-R-A-C-Y so it's ok, no?
5) In ¿1981? Irak was closer to get a A bomb than now. They tell us that he might be less than a YEAR close of making an atomic bomb. Well that's probably bull propaganda. Remember: Don't trust this "estimates" so blindly.
6) "Moral highground". I agree with that, but there is an important point that should be made.
When you have MORAL HIGHGROUND it doesn't mean that it's actions are always more "acceptable". Eg: Israel does this, Irak does that, but Israel has a higher moral ground so it's more acceptable what Israel has done.
The truth is that if you are a civilized democracy (Israel, US, Europe), you are EXPECTED to act more FAIR and JUSTLY. WE AS A WORLD expect MUCH BETTER ACTIONS FROM Israel than from IRAK. When we critizice Israel or America, we are not putting these countries in the same package as Irak.
Just remember that... (my 2 cents) |
1) True. The wars agains Iraq and Afghanistan have economical (and political background)
2) hehe, Saddam and Bush must be brothers, since they both have the same mother :D
3) Actually (as far as I remember), US supported the use of Iraqi chem. weapons
4) China is not a democracy, will Bush bomb them? Of course not, he's not the smartest person in the world, but he's not crazy either.
5) Come on, even Brazil (together with the US and some European countries) were helping Iraq with their nuclear programme till the Gulf War... now nobody supports them, where did all this sudden know-how come from?
6) Mate, don't be fooled by democracy. It may be better than dictatorship in most cases, but it's not perfect. Besides, I'd rather be ruled by a wise dictatorship than be part of a weak democracy. Obviously, it's a bit hard to find such wise leader :p
In my opinion, neither Sharon, nor Bush nor Saddam, nor Arafat are saints... However, I'd rather overthrow Sharon than Saddam, because of several reasons that most of you probably know already (if not, just quote this paragraph, ask "why" and I'll answer :D)
Good to see that this thread seems far from becoming a flame war :) |

If america where to withdrawl from wolrd affairs, and only do business within its borders, im sorry to say but it would be drastic not just for the world but for the US as well. Theres no way it would happen for the US depends to much on other countries foor goods and services, and the rest of the world depends on the US for certain things as well. |

I got one thing to say .. REPUBLICANS ARE WHORES ! ! ! ! they give a big crap about global environment. And what a coincidence, the country is in a recession, elections are coming for senate places, and Cheney and Bush are both petroleum buddies, whatever happened to Osama Bin Ladin ? wasent it enough ? war against terrorism didnt work to well in order to bring nations economy back and has to go into another so people would SUPPORT him and give him rating ?!!
I live in America, its a country with great opportunitites, but sometimes, its absurd and sad to see how americans fall for all the bull that BUSH is doing. All they want is do whatever is best FOR them, not the country nor the world, they want petroleum ... its all they are going for.. besides getting public support and help raise the chance of getting the senate under republican contro.. then we are in a big hole. |

after this post, i'll prob broaden the topic even further, as far as the war on terrorism is concerned, i blame it on religion, if only some people wouldn't be so naive and head over heels for religion (i'm not anti-religionist) and most wars are based on religion.
and as far as the war against iraq is concerned, see wat the UN finds in iraq and than base the decision to attack iraq or not. there's no point in attacking resulting in further loss of life etc. itz stupid having to resolve issue via military power... but if itz necessary, *sigh im all for it
but for there to be a real argument/opinions formed, u should understand more about the topic before u speak... there's more truth out there than the media and the bush government say.
btw, bush also wants to attack sadam coz there's personal conf;ict between them... i think itz coz sadam once tried to kill his dad or something, not sure |

I agree 100 percent.
religion's main purpose on earth has been to justify war. |

I think the Iraqi weapons program needs to be shut down, and Saddam's regime needs to be destroyed. Saddam is tryin to hold of a US attack until he has his WOMD program worked out. He held off bringing UN inspectors back in for as long as he could, then he agreed to let them in unconditionally to hold off the US attack (which would surelyhave otherwise begun by now). Now he's saying he won't accept any "new" conditions (a term whose meaning no one understands). He's just tryin to kill time. The sooner that regime is terminated the better for the world (including Iraq). A democracy simply would not work so soon in Iraq, so a new dictator needs to be appointed (hopefully by the UN, but most probably will be done by the US).
Having said that I do not dellude myself regarding and concede that a large part of the motivation behind any US-led attack on Iraq will be Oil. It's the reason that the US changed the Afghan regime and its the reason they are now (fortunately) helping the Georgians, deal with their terrorist problem.
The US does not care about supporting democracy or human rights around the world - look at the regime they are cooperating with in Kyrgyzstan. |

To all those who say that Saddam has oppressed his people and he is hated there in his own country.... please think before you type. You have not beeen there so you wouldnt know.. you are probably receiving your info from CNN. Do you remember how many millions paraded the streets of Bagdad for Husseins birthday during the summer? It was overwhelming how many people were celebrating the guys birthday! But that doesnt make him a good guy.... and i think its ridiculous when Bush thinks that ATTACKING the whole nation to get one man is the best resort. If he were smart...and with all their supposed military intelligence.. tey could have done a secret assault on his compounds and taken him then.. why would they have to bomb cities and people for the THIRD ing time just to get this guy?
I hope bush gets assasinated... he is no better than saddam... even worse...ing monkey.
First they try finding Osama in the mountains...and in the process killing more Afghani's than were killed in the Septemeber 11th terrorist attacks.... now they plan on invading a nation and killing more people. But all we will see and hear on the American news channels are how "1 pilot was shot down": but we wont hear how his missle killed 300 people below. Im glad the pentegon was attcked on septemeber 11th...i dont beleive the people inside that building were innocent. They are the strategic planners who enforce murder in the world. |
