| The initial lineup looked pretty weak, but in the end I thought some of the stages looked like they stacked up pretty well. Specifically the Deep End, Pete Tong and Dirty Bird stages. I was thinking about checking out one of the big massives next summer. After the reviews this sounds kind of intriguing. |

Different strokes for different folks. If the kind of festival you like is burning man or BPM then you wont like TomorrowWorld. That is a given fact. Also Ultra sucked in 2006 to 2011. As mentioned they stepped it up, they definitely have the most diverse lineup and the Megastructure this year was the best enclosed festival stage I have ever been to. Since you cant listen to the top 40 crap that gets played at TomorrowWorld, as long as you are not missing a carl cox, digweed, sven vath invite only boat cruise you should make sure you check out ultra if you can snag a Friday or Saturday only portion of a ticket from a friend.

That's what I figured in regards to Ultra. All the festivals kind of stepped it up the last two years due to the larger budgets and competition. I would probably do Ultra again before I did TW for your point exactly, the music seems to be much broader at Ultra, but this has been the case for years.
I have a few friends that went to Belgium, one said it was mehh, but the others raved about it. If I were to go that far for a festival, it would probably be something more like the Boom Festival in Portugal or Dunes in India. I like the camp-out eco-friendly type festivals that last a week and are more about art, participation, and music than about a big production stage with expensive DJs.
To me, these EDC/TW/Ultra festivals don't really separate themselves much. They pretty much deliver the same talent and experience, with slightly different production themes and locations. They in no way really allow their crowds to make their imprint on the festival itself. Props to TW for keeping it 21+ though. That would add a lot for me.
BTW BOOM only happens every two years, and is up for 2014. I really want to try and get to that.

Getting dirty and muddy and all that kind of stuff really aint my cup of tea. That's why I think EDC Vegas will still be it for me. Not to mention 10 minutes and I'm home in my own bed, hard to beat...
Also, getting food poisoning will kill any fun, and BPM had more of that than fun from all the reviews I heard. Even the DJ's came to vegas after and were still sick and din't look happy. I am sure there were awesome sets unlike anything else, while diarrhea and throw-up were shooting everywhere, lol...
So, I am for playing it safe now that I am old raver. TW looked pretty good tho, but price wise its up there, like ultra, lotta coin. Just a little bit more and you can go to Ibiza.
All this being said, It seems that Groove Cruise has the best overall reviews and customers from what I hear, so maybe thats next in line for me.
Also, I like that there are younger (18+) almost non dressed participants ;) |

TW blew every festival out of the water.
The whole venue (in the grassy hills) in the middle of no where just made it that much more magical.
It wasn't some makeshift festival at a racetrack or colosium, it was in the grassy hills in the middle of nowhere. Something that TL has been perfecting for years and years.
Sure EDC had 368262 times more fireworks and lighting and other stuff, but the over all "feel" to TW was awesome. Walking across the lake while having frogs throw flames a few feet next to you was awesome, having a DJ play till 4am at the campgrounds was awesome, the production of each stage was awesome. I feel like TW spent their production money more carefully instead of just shooting fireworks every 10 minutes like Insomniac likes to do.
I kept on seein people take pictures with almost every sign or stage design or production piece, something I don't see at EDC's. They had awesome quotes everywhere, something that I noticed kept the positive vibe of the festival.
It gave me a coachella/bonaroo vibe. Minus the dust and mud all over the place.
But I will say, the weather was awesome. Rain could have turned TW into a disaster, thankfully it didn't rain. :) |

I think I might do the Groove Cruise next year. Hopefully they book some decent music, lineup was pretty boring outside of a few locals.
I didn't get sick at BPM, but those that did are totally ok with pooping sideways for 24 hours for 10 days in music paradise. And it was a fluke, not likely to happen again this year.
And part of the festival experience should be to NOT go home in your own bed. EDC Vegas is hardly a festival IMO, more like a rave 3 nights in a row. Festivals should have music going 24 hours a day so that you may plug in and plug out whenever you choose. |

I liked EDC better than Tomorrowland personally, mostly because the weather in Belgium is a ing nightmare. The lineups were pretty similar for what I care about, with both having Cox, Enter, and Paradise, but Tomorrowland had one up with Cocoon. Trance was also better at Tomorrowland. The camping was , as the entire camp grounds turned into a giant mud wrestling pit.
As for the vibe, honestly all festivals feel the same to me, but if I had to categorize Tomorrowland with another festival, it would be Ultra. Ultra is a giant brotacular fest of fist pumping might, and Tomorrowland was pretty similar, it's just that everyone spoke different languages and you were constantly effected by it when trying to communicate. The only thing to me that really stands out as being better at Tomorrowland was that they had beer stands actually inside of the stage areas, bathrooms, and better food selections. |

Groove Cruise is mainly commercial house. That's the vibe they are after. Fun, upbeat, arms in the air stuff for drunk people. We went for Markus and KSky who both played on 2 nights but they were not typical. The rest of the time we just had to let go and just have fun (which we did). We didn't hear anything deep, tech, or progressive for those of you who like it that way. We would take anything we heard on the GC over Robot Heart but thats just us. |

Getting sick only last about 24 hours. I'd still take ting for 24 hours non-stop to go back there again. It's ing awesome Stern. Quit being such a jaded-old-fart
or in my case from BPM, a jaded-old-shart |

BPM did sound awesome for me until the outbreak. I'll, see what happens this year, I have no faith south of the border with food and health.
Maybe I'm missing out on something but it seems that camping hand being super uncomfortable while trying to sleep or rest with a bunch of crazy people running around and making noise vs the comfort of your own home or a nice hotel room doesn't leave much choice for me. Maybe sometjing happens While camping I am unaware of. Camping in nature is one thing but at a festival doesn't seem like a lot of rest would happen. Maybe that's the point.
I am all for controlled environments with hot running water and clean beddin, etc. |

| Stay in a hotel, they are as close as 6 miles away. I rented a house a mile away from TW and had a tent with liquor stored at it |
