Since when are everyone moving to PC's?
I don't know a single studio that has. W8 is an unmitigated disaster and W7 is now 4 years old meaning that support will stop in another 4 which isn't long enough for studios.
Aparently, mavericks is a significant performance upgrade. Vram has been updated so it can "compress" 30% more memory usage in to your RAM, so 4GB becomes 6GB.
Graphics processing has been updated to use OPenCL which should yield better performance, and they've finally given the multi display support that everyone has been waiting for.
It's taken too long but this is what Lion should have been. |

its sort of the tipping point right now. OSX has just flat lined. Logic X is a joke. Eveyrone is on the fence and as more people switch, so will others. Studios will use what works but anyone that isn't doing simple tracking or using a very expensive avid rig will be making the change. I wish it wasn't so, but there is no reason to use mac if you want a workstation except if you like to pay a lot for a little.
There use to be no choice but mac. As time goes on , it seems they are killing their pro clientele.
it sucks but until they do something better or microsoft does another major gaff which is very possible, there really is no reason not to get a pc. Windows 7 is as stable as osx 10.8.
And those mac pros are going to be a complete disaster and even tho they never made money , i mean nobody is going to be getting one. |

| lol, 98% of people I know are running macs, don't know where Looney is at. BTW mavericks feels kinda buggy, first thing I disliked is the dock is now white, wtf is that all about? Looks horrible. Second my iTunes 10 was updated to the horrible iTunes 11 and I cant seem to downgrade... |

| Well honestly mister L4C is usually a bit early with these kinds of claims, but a lot of times, in retrospect, he was spot on :). Time will tell ;) |

There are a number of ways to get iTunes 11 to be more like iTunes 10 again.
Under view you can select Show Sidebar to get back the sidebar you were used.
For the search field in the top right you can click the magnifying glass and uncheck Search Entire Library so the search acts like it did before. |

The dock is not white...? It's still translucent. And iTunes 11 is not horrible for Christ's sake. You're just not used to it. If you want the iTunes 10 user interface, click View -> Show Sidebar. There. Done. The iTunes 10 UI.
You guys have clearly not even attempted to read about the changes that Apple has made for performance that are completely transparent to the user. The problem with Mavericks is that it is NOT just a consumer-level feature upgrade at all. it is almost entirely an under-the-hood overhaul.

Read that link.
I would even argue that Finder tags and tabs are completely useless for anybody who isn't a pro user. |

That's good to hear. I'll probably do the upgrade this weekend. |

Only problem is that the Virus TI output device is not working with mavericks. |
