Cool pics! I wanted to check out this sandbox - such an awesome idea for Detroit. That and the big chess boards. Awesome job on checking out some of the sites. I always say I will and then never do b/c I figure I'll check them out when I'm visiting my parents in Windsor, and then never do. Fail. |

Is it possible to book hotel rooms now??? Same dates?
We stayed at the Greektown Casino Hotel, the only downfall is that it's a little bit of a walk from the venue, but I find it's better than the Marriott in terms of service.
The liquor store near by, is better than the one near the Marriott too! |

For some hotels, it is possible.
My best suggestions for hotels are the Westin and DoubleTree, DoubleTree fills up quick, but it's nice. No harm in making a reservation as long as it's not prepay right?
I personally as stated a few times already in this thread hold out for the first wave of VIP tickets to go on sale, then participate in the VIP Room Discount through Paxahau & Westin. First and second waves went on sale in Sept and October if I believe, and then I booked my hotel in January.
EDIT - I just checked and you can book DoubleTree from about $200 to $250 for a Double Bed room (which is a two room suite with a pull out couch)
Westin is looking at like $400 a room, but with VIP it's usually around $215 or so and perks like discounted underground valet parking, complimentary internet, late or early check out if available and they're REALLY good about not being picky about sound. We didn't get one noise complaint this year and we probably should have. And, if you're into that kinda thing, this is where the artists stay as well if you're starstruck, a few friends both years managed get pics with Digweed in the lobby, Sneak was putzing around the front getting his luggage when we were checking out this year, caught Tale Of Us after their set on Sat in the elevators and a disgruntled tired Marcel Dettmann checking out at 5am telling us 'time to go home!' in a thick german accent. |

Westinn's a great hotel. They've really been jacking up the prices these past few years, huh? I remember staying there in 2011 and paying $180 a night with no VIP. I guess they're not getting much business throughout the year, so Memorial Day weekend's a good time to cash in. Still, $200 with VIP was worth it.
Getting to meet your favourite artists around the hotel tops things off. Got to hang out with Michael Mayer this year which was awesome. Very down to earth guy that seriously knows his music. I've got plenty of respect for him as he's contributed so much to electronic music. Getting to talk to Digweed last year was amazing.. definitely the biggest fanboy moment I've ever had ahahaha. This is a good place to share these moments as I'm sure many of you can relate.

Ian and I just booked DoubleTree a couple days ago and it was $479 for the wknd for the King 2 Room Suite (same as the double Queen 2 Room Suite). We get all that you said and they have a free shuttle the drives you anywhere within a 3 mile radius. Just book at DoubleTree and stay at our hotel next year loser. :tongue2

yup that was indeed the line up for the old miami (waited out there for two hours, apparently the first time there ever was a wait.)
and thanks for digging my pics guys ..
also don't count out the inn on ferry street as your accommodation option for next year , it is located in midtown so not really walking distance from hart plaza (but definitely do able) but its right by the old miami and in a pretty good neighborhood (university is just down the street) also the shuttle service runs literally 24/7 during memorial day weekend, and its the best option in its price rage imo. |
