Jaun, honestly, you're setting yourself up for a fall here.
Aside form some quite esoteric and subjective timberal/tonal arguments (and some relating to random factors relating to the way analog circuitry/components behave) there is NOTHING that software cannot do that hardware does, period.
I worked several times with Bob Moog, and he told me himself some of the VA simulations of his synths were no different to his hardware versions. He had a lot to lose by openly stating this as he had just got his name back and was selling hardware synths again and he had no financial benefits from the software versions. He said, if anything the software just gave you more options and took away the hardware limitations.
So why did his synths such as the voyagers and fx units sell faster than he could make them when there were "better" software versions?
For the reasons Richie just pointed out. Collecting, nostalgia, workflow and resale.
There is one thing that Richie forgot though: Tactile relationship.
And Juan, there's nothing wrong withing to own hardware because you like it, or how it feels or that you want a collection, but don't delude yourself that it's somehow superior base on qualitative criteria.
And I'd stop bringing up the money thing. I'm pretty sure Richie has more resources and net value assets than you so it's just childish to keep going on about it. I'm in the same position but I don't need to keep telling everyone I can afford this piece of kit or that etc. |

So what if Richie can't come up with a replica. I'm still wrong?
I gues me and everyone in gearslutz is delusional again? |

| really, i just joined. |

So why do you take their word for it then?
I tell you, that the god father of analog synths himself told me that, and you want to argue on the basis of some forum that you've only just joined?
Maybe richie can't come up with it. Who knows, but that's not proof either way - that's between your conception of the situation and his skill level.
based on everything I know (15+years in the audio industry, 10 years of which as a pro engineer) I've never seen anything that hardware can do that can't be replicated or even improved upon by software.
Even at my last job, money was quite literally no issue. One morning the boss wanted to try an EQ that costs $40k. 3 hours later a runner came back with one for me to hook up. He used it for one day and it's still probably sitting on a shelf gathering dust.
They hear the bricasti's are nice. They buy 10.
Aside from a few pieces of hardware that are unique (mainly because it hadn't been modeled yet), nearly everything there is ITB.
Why do you think that is, when finances are no issue, neither is access or labor?
Because the composers and engineers can make whatever you want happen in software.
Gearslutz does have some knowledgeable people on there, but 90% of are them are psuedo-audiophile blowhards that spend more time waffling about analog minutiae than they ever have actually using the damn kit.
Many of the people on their are just collectors. They buy kit, read the specs, bang on about it then add it to the hoard. I think a lot of them are actually bullters too; there's several very regular posters on there I swear talk about kit (and their specs) they don't actually own, because they get mighty vague when asked real world questions or leave the thread when asked to post an example of the unit in action.
oh, and god forbid they actually post a sample of their "music" ;) |

this is quite possibly the most basic sound there is. |

Exactly my point, i bet you sat your self al this time trying to make it. How many in times do i have to repeat myself, if its so simple whats taking you so long. Its been 3 hours. Palm did it in a minute :eyes: |

the point you were making was that hardware does what software can't. time shouldn't be an issue.
I do have to figure out how to record my screen. So i'm guessing 1 hour. 2 minutes for the patch.
I do have a social life. So chill out, go play video games or whatever the it is you do on the weekend and i will post an idential version explaining with a video how it was done.
i will then show you how to do it better. |

thats just how ing talented and smart i am. unfortunately, as previously stated im also lazy undedicated meaning that instead of using 30 mins to replicate it exact, i just made something similar only better instead, using two minutes including render, mp3 decoding, uploading and posting. im awesome. |
You def are palm, i bet you made richie jealous now. Your a much better producer than him now. Here we should have a toast. |
