I do. I still think, however, that the non-serious and serious discussions need not be in the same forum section for this brotherhood-spirit to take effect.

Personally, I think the less forums we have the better...the more forums we have the less people generally visit each one with some minor exceptions like the main music discussion and chill ones.

I like playing along in the occasional political thread, just like I like talking in many of the other "OT" threads that come up in here.

There've been a lot of political threads lately, but I don't think we have enough people interested to justify opening up a whole seperate forum for them. Keeping them as part of the chill forum lets more casually interested people jump in if there's a subject they're interested in as well.

The possibility for flame wars is always inherent in political threads, but most people seem to be able to handle it without getting completely bent out of shape about it.

Yeah, it could work I suppose.

I think it would have to be more heavily moderated though, because based on my experience with these political discussions, some people seem to enjoy baiting flames by posting thoughtless crap like "all Americans suck!" just for the sake of it, completely disintegrating the conversation as a result. I'm not saying that everyone who posts there has to be long-winded and intellectual, just that people who are in there just to stir or take the piss have to be censored, otherwise they'll completely undermine the whole point of the forum.

So yeah. Put me down as number 8 then. I'm not sure it's an entirely necessary forum on a "trance music" board, but I'll post there if it's created.

Or the other alternative would be to split the CO room into two seperate rooms:

-One for serious discussion
-One for non-serious discussion

Or something like that anyway.

after reading everyones opinion though, i think it's worth a try, evn though, i think it might be good to keep them here too. you can keep my name there i guess.

i also think sothis' idea of a "Girls" thread is a good one. I'm sure you'd have no trouble getting 15 people to support that one. I for one am getting tired of the slut threads, i'd like it if they were moved somewhere else.

you'd be surprised, once you open it, exactly how many threads get posted... happened with our forum. sure, it was the same 5 or 6 people debating the whole time, but they filled it up QUICK... since there was a designated area, they didn't hold back in fear of cluttering up off topic discussion, and went to town.

add me to the list inatrance, i agree with it.

rofl... yea, i was (kind of) joking about that since i know of course that a forum related to girls will never happen.. just would be nice to not have to see 40% of the topics on the main page related to "post your pictures here!!!" or " girls!" . then again ive been saying that for a long time in chill room and consequently have picked up several choice names such as "man hater". heh.
Technaut
we need a serious forum, cos no-one talks about serious stuff when they are chilling out in RL, well at least me and my mates dont.

So I say, let the people decide :p

and sothis, rofl @ man hater, never heard u called that before.

heh she cant change it yet, she needs to post more :p

But if she changed it to that, I think she would get called things worse than man hater.

i can't understand how so many people have posted against the idea... these are the same people who have never posted in a serious thread.

Its quite simple people,
1) if you never post in these threads, you aren't going to miss them
2) just b/c they'd be in another forum doens't mean you wouldn't see them - you could post if you wanted to
3) if all the people that actually DO engage in these discussions DO want a forums, how does that make your life any worse? why bust in here and say "NO"?

just my opinions.... a lot of people here aren't making any sense.

May as well call it the Flame Forum coz thats all it'll be. A lot of political issues that get discussed in the chillout forum always turn into petty name calling and pathetic arguing. Whats the point in having a forum dedicated to that? Bad idea imo.

I don't always post in serious threads, but I don't always post in "i'm durnk hehe" threads either. But I DO read most serious threads. I don't post in any thread unless I feel I have something to contribute to the topic. Some people are all about being serious, and others just like to be "funny" (or stupid). If someone's trying to be funny, they should just go to the Humour forum, that's what it's there for. The chill out room is exactly as it's title states, and often my idea of chilling out is having serious conversations with people. COR is the forum I visit most b/c it's got the most variety. Taking certain topics out of the COR is basically telling some people that those topics are not "chilled out" topics, which to me they are.

pls don't flame, that's just my $0.02
