You misunderstood what he was saying.... that the name WMC is dead and the conference itself is now meaningless when compared to MMW/Ultra. WMC the conference itself could disappear and it wouldn't change anything in terms of there being a week of parties under the MMW/Ultra brand names. |
Yeah, that's what I was saying. I went to "MMW"/"WMC" whatever you want to call it this year and had a great time. But I will say that I don't think it is what it used to be. I think a lot of people are switching to BPM instead. |

THIS. BPM has the steam that WMC/MMW used to have. Just wait till Playa gets more money and can bring their venues up to level of what were used to, all though they are pretty much almost there because they can offer something Miami will never offer which is dancing on the sand a stones throw from the ocean. |

| IMHO bpm will never have the intimate feel of places like treehouse or the pickle, and bpm will never have warehouses/studio type of venues that Miami does. I prob won't be going to bpm next year. Huge venues on the beach don't do it for me any more. |

Plus the yacht parties which is a hard vibe to match.
Plus despite Miami being somewhat of a free for all its still on USA soil with US police and laws. I've heard a lot more stories from this past year of increased cartel presence and shakedowns from la policia. Some of which I'm sure can be tacked to sheer lack of common sense but I also heard a few bad things from mature and responsible people. |

Bpm is getting bigger and bigger and big players want their piece of the pie. This past year was the first year that the raids and shake downs were this bad. It will get worse as bpm gets more commercialized. |

I've been going to BPM for years and laugh every time people say the cartel and police were bad this year. Uhhhhh no, it's always been like this. I was bribed by cops like 4 years ago when they insisted a had drugs. Don't get me started on the cartel. It actually feels more safe now than it did the past years.
I do agree that Miami is a great destination and it has more diverse venues, from yachts to pool parties. BPM has some pretty insane venues as well though, you can't really beat partying on the beach until the sun rises. But it all really doesn't matter if you don't have the DJs coming. And right now, BPM has everyone while Miami is losing many. |

If it's happen before o never heard about it but it happened this year.
Iv heard of people getting harassed but never the road getting shut down and every car/taxi getting searched/harassed
Things like the 4th amendment don't exhist in Mexico.
Besides the dynamic boys, basically every artist I enjoy was at wmc this year |

i will agree with this. while ive never been to BPM, i have never heard of this happening in prior years either and definitely makes me more cautious of whether or not ill go in the future. but watching the damn broadcasts from blue parrot and mamitas each year is gut wrenching not being there. |

The reason you're hearing a lot of stories like this is because there is more people. Things still run the same as they usually do in Mexico. That's part of Mexico bribes and shake downs by la policia. |

In that same vein more tourists --> more of that aspect. Everyone wants a piece of the pie just how it works. |
