Just from personal experiences Miami is going to lose some more guys this year and will definitely lose a greater amount of attendees as the Euro/Pound continually get weaker. Why come to Miami when you're getting 1:1 when you can go to Mexico and get 1:20? Another reason Mexico taking the thunder is the actual vacation aspect. You have a ton of incredible things to do the following week or week after BPM like Cenotes, caves, Ruins and so many activities. Miami you got Coral Castle and Wet Willies.

I def hear all that but your point of view is skewed by the fact that you live down there. We don't have anything like Miami beach and the associated pools and nightlife up here in the Northeast.

I'm giving you a point of view from what I am hearing from artists/labels/agents. If that skews my points than I guess they are skewed.

Everyone seems to forget that there is a massive European contingent that keeps WMC rolling. That contingent is finding better options for their money.

I was speaking to the point of Miami not being a real vacation spot.

I know you know your within the industry and are in the know with the artists and labels.

I never said it wasn't a vacation spot but Playa/Tulum has a pleathora more options for vacation activities after or before BPM. Miami we have the beach and how many people are staying for the beach before/during/after Miami. There's not many, unlike Mexico where you have people taking advantage that Riveria Maya has to offer.

when have the police every shut down the road out of blue venado and harassed everybody/extorted people/planted drugs on people? If it's happen before o never heard about it but it happened this year.

Iv heard of people getting harassed but never the road getting shut down and every car/taxi getting searched/harassed

Things like the 4th amendment don't exhist in Mexico.

Besides the dynamic boys, basically every artist I enjoy was at wmc this year

Well, they just started having parties there, so never. But they have always done this . You just have more rookies and bloggers talking about it now...although they never had a checkpoint from what I remember. It wasn't a big deal really, you just walked past the checkpoint and picked up a taxi there.

I just see it as a big difference between some small, isolated incidents and a huge, whole-party affecting incident.

I also feel the fact that the event is 10 days long lends to more and more undesirables flocking into town over the duration of the event. I'm curious to see if they will try to hold multiple parties at Venado next year.

Blue Venado 2 years ago was the only "truly special" venue at BPM. I'm sure the cenote parties are dope but sound and production were really lacking everywhere else

i have some non law abiding moments and the last thing I want to deal with is corrupt cops, no rights, and the chance of a few nights In Mexican jail.

There is a huge diff from going to say Santa Domingo where you can blend in and not be harassed for no reason, to going to playa where every cop and local knows there is a music festival going on which involves ed up kids and lots of money/drugs.

I hear that but at the same time i really, really want to experience this at least once. My tentative plan is to come for weekend 1 then spend some time in Tulum for the one offs.

Not sure why everyone is so hell-bent on directly comparing BPM and WMC/MMW.

The sheer scope and size of Miami's week in March makes BPM look miniscule.

If anything, perhaps WMC has indeed grown too large and can't handle as many parties as venues are trying to throw. But I see no way in hell that WMC will diminish in any substantial way. I had an absolute blast at everything I went to during WMC and everything was packed. When Anjunadeep absolutely packs the house during a day party on Saturday in a little venue in Wynwood, you're not going to convince me that WMC is dying.

I'm sure there were parties that struggled but I don't buy it that BPM is replacing WMC. It's an asinine suggestion, no offense. Have heard from many people who have been to BPM that some of the venues, as Rissinite stated, are simply not up to par. A whole week of the same old thing (beach parties at a handful of semi-decent venues with some questionable production) seems like it'd get old really fast. The northerners coming from NYC and Chicago and Canada probably think more highly of it than anyone else. As a Floridian, I say "big deal." The diversity of the parties, the production values, the (for the most part) great sound, and size of some of the bigger WMC events are not equalled by what BPM is able to do with the presently built venues in PDC. I also don't doubt the shake-down tactics by the Mexican policia. Saw it with my own eyes in both Colombia and Peru, and these instances didn't even take place in high-tourist areas. A buddy I befriended who was from Sweden was just randomly searched and was bribed $250 USD for having a few grams of bud in Taganga, Colombia. It's the way Latin American cops make a little extra side cash off white tourists.

Of course the high prices and douche-factor in Miami during the WMC week are too huge negatives. That's why you say em both and fly to Europe instead :toothless
