Haven't been personally but I can vouch for friends that really enjoy Desert Hearts.
the Future Festival next week outside Vegas by the Robot Heart people looks cool as well.
Back to the original topic, I think what's happened is now we have so many other choices to see our fav djs that its not necessary to go to Miami to see them. Be it BPM, Ibiza, Movement, London, Vegas, LA, Coachella, Tomorrowword, the IMS events around the world, ADE, EDM Biz, the various EDCs or whatever, you can usually see your fav djs much closer to home now (or discuss business). Miami will always be a draw but since its lost is exclusivity on being the 1 place each year to attent great dance music events people will find less of a reason to 'not miss' going. |

I agree with you but the Mexican venues are dumping major money into them to get them up to par. Mamitas, Blue Parrot and a few more are in the middle of updating/upgrading the venues.
I think a lot of you are missing my point on this, the people from the states love Miami but I'm speaking in global terms here and a lot of Europeans and British aren't coming because of the exchange rates and how expensive everything has been. Again parties my be packed and I've been in the lucky position of seeing ticket numbers on year over year basis for some of the bigger parties but they were below last years numbers, that's all I'm saying. A lot of these parties are barely breaking even as well. It's not going to be an overnight exodus but you are going to see it dwindle over the next few years.
And your last line sums up exactly why europeans are staying home :) |
almost all the venues at BPM have been renovated, it's def adapting to the growth.
And don't forget the costs too when ur down there, condos are dirt cheap compared to Miami and you don't need to cab it much or rent cars, etc. Best bang for the buck like Movement, minus the hotel saturation.
Also, since the weather is bad everywhere north in Jan, BPM has that appeal also. As for the increased police prescence, don't think for one minute that messed up couple ed it up for rest of the Blue Venado parties. Cops are always going to be corrupt down there but you can't be a jackass down there or you'll increase the probablilty of bad things happening to you |

Umm they shortened Innervisons and cancelled No.19.
I'd say that affects everyone. |

| they should have just billed the couple with all the extra search and rescue costs :whip: :p |

Pretty sure I'd rather party on the beach until 7am than have the cops shut down a Miami pool party early.....yes Miami has never had issues with cops, lmao |

Let me correct this for you. No.19 chose to cancel the party because the cops wanted to shut it down at 5am (like the rest of the closing times at the venues in Mexico)
Again Blue Venado is only supposed to be open until 5am just like all the other venues.
Also it wasn't the couple that ed things up. Governers daughter went missing and that was the last place she was seen. She turned up on Friday night though.
I think you also forgot what happened this year during wmc.... A few days before parties lets remind you. Thompson Hotel got shut down, Lot14 Shut down and don't forget about code enforcement running around shutting things down all week. But yea no issues with cops in Miami lol |

Lol please find where I said that there are no issues with cops in Miami.
All I did was retort this statement from Spin Laden;
"don't think for one minute that messed up couple ed it up for rest of the Blue Venado parties."
So I guess technically I was wrong because presumably it did not it up for all the parties there for the rest of eternity.... But it did in fact it up for the rest of all parties there in 2015. |

It actually didn't up anything. That's the issue these days. The law says they have to stop at 5am but because they got away with it for years people start thinking its ed up when they were cracked down on and had to stop at the real closing time.
No it's not they never complied with the laws and choose to continue pushing their luck. Miami actually has more parties shut down than Mexico every single year. Mexico had no issues at all and counting Blue Venado as an issue is just silly since the closing time is 5am.
Also, I never said you had said there was an issue, I was just stating there is more issues with cops in Miami than Mexico. One venue was told to close at their regular closing time sure the Police were searching and sent in the federales but again the governers daughter was missing and that was her last known place. |

I don't know No. 19's decision making process but I find it hard to believe that if the above mentioned events had not happened they would have cancelled the party and thus I consider that to be the ultimate cause.
I have heard a couple of horror stories from people I consider to be responsible, who have professional careers (MD and lawyer) and are very seasoned partiers. I'm talking about stuff like cops pulling over and searching with no warrants, planting drugs and demanding bribes. I see that sort of stuff as a lot more serious than a Miami party being shut down or closed early due to permit issues.
I'm done with this argument. I hope we can just amicably agree to disagree here. I'm not trying to trash BPM it sounds like an incredible experience and I certainly want to try it out I'm just pointing out the negative aspects I have heard from close friends. |

Sure they probably wouldn't. No. 19 couldn't go late so they moved it to the next day during the day.
That's mexico my friend year round. A lot of Central and South America is like that.
You do know why Miami parties get shut down right? That little extra bribe money from big organizers will do it. Bribes are everywhere with police.
Best course of action and I do it everytime I go to Mexico. I keep an extra wallet with my id and about 100$US. If something happens (which it has) I quickly hand that wallet with the $100 and drivers license over and promptly receive my drivers license back and push on.
Another thing is you should really never rent a car in Mexico, especially from one of the joints at the airport. Those license plates are tagged with a certain set of letters/numbers and policia know exactly who is a tourist and will pull them over and bribe them. It's all about situational awareness of the country you're going to be in. I've been to Mexico more times than I can count and ran into issues once. |

I can't believe the reason #19 got moved was just because venado couldn't stay open past 5. Makes no sense. I went to mamitas and it was a huge cluster . I Had a terrible time. Logically it just doesn't make sense to me. I spoke to a few djs who were in town and connected very well, they were sketched about going back to venado after what they heard/saw
Drinks in playa and lodging were not drastically less than I spend in Miami. Also the only venue up to my level was the middle "club" at santanera. |

| I'll have to find the article where the 'couple' that were having issues and also got messed up on drugs. Girl went missing after, so it's a combo of everthing we're saying. Parties got shut down after that and I'm almost certain there's a correlation between that and the incident with the couple. |
