Sean Tyas - 9am (pg. 4)

Exactly, the track is boring from every angle. I can't even understand why this would deserve a topic. Ok, Tyas made something unusual, but the track in itself is the ultimate void. Doesn't have groove, direction...and stop putting words in my mouth. Didn't mention anything about trance or melody. That track is just a number.

I don't know why you and Mark are comparing it to tech house tracks. I don't see the two as remotely comparable. (I'm not even going to ask which trance DJs you've heard who are mixing unicorn fodder with plink-plonk big room tech house - the combination sounds too bad to even contemplate.)

For me, this Tyas track is a modern successor of the kind of driving tech trance someone like Sander Van Doorn was making 10 years ago. For example:

I would definitely play these two back to back. I know they aren't "groovy" (I was using "groove in the general sense of bassline + rhythm section) but peak time trance is not supposed to be "groovy". These kind of tracks are your heads-down ravey bangers, all about the bassline, the forward momentum.

Chain 9am with Rush, then go into something like thi:

Keep your mix really tight so the basslines are hot on each other's heels. Bang bang.

Oh no, the dreaded rolleyes. I am instantly defeated.

you are. with your stupid "I don't like this so nobody else should either!" comment, you defeated yourself - it is childish.

is no-one allowed to contrary opinion or something? or was anyone slagging anyone off for liking it?!
Mr.Mystery
At least you try. That's the most important thing.

Love it! Dark & edgy. Nice to see someone being creative, instead of the same old anjuna wall of supersaw chords & big room snare hit on the 4th beat thing I keep hearing. Something about it reminds me of Terence Fixmer.

the track i posted has more trance elements than this one so asking why i compared a track you consider a genre is rather myopic. I don't find it driving nor would any musician or producer because it lacks the rhythmical tension and usual motoric elements that one would ascribe to driving. IT doesn't use the very familiar and known devices one would use to make something "drive"

this track would be the filler tracks for an opening dj.The stuff you fill between the filler tracks so an empty dance floor doesn't look completely ridiculous. Meant to be just boring. Not terrible but good enough to not break the sond system. I think this track is irrelevant would group it with the sort of tracks that had they never existed would never of detracted or added to the EDM canon.

track should be called 9pm.

I pretty much stopped giving a about your opinion on this subject at this statement here.

I think it fits perfectly in this Airwave set, he skipped the first minutes. I'm sure it will do fine in a club. Starts @54:20
