If you're looking for the Electric Island parties of the past, then it looks like Summerdaze may be your answer this year. They're doing a 2 day event June 6-7th with at least 5 International DJs at Toronto Island. And it's beachside too.
I'm a bit wary of them, as I think it's their first time doing something of this magnitude but I like the organizers more. They respond to ppl on Facebook and seem less douchy in general. I enjoyed their Fur Coat event on Sunday.
As for Electric Island, sucks the sound issues are STILL continuing! And Lee Burridge didn't even show up? I don't get why the cost has actually INCREASED when there's more ppl coming now. It should at least stay the same. And the organizers are weed Nazis, as they completely shut that stuff down as well.
I'm contemplating seeing Sasha, as I might be able to catch next month in Ibiza, fingers crossed, at We Love Sankey's Opening, and I'm already seeing Dennis Ferrer at Amnesia. Marcel Dettmann is a good add I have to admit, but dunno if it's worth this headache. Like Ants at Ushuaia is $50 CDN as well, but I'm getting Maya Jane Coles, Sneak, Tapesh, Eli and Fur, Kolsch in a worldclass outdoor venue. I get the drink prices are lower in Canada but come on man... |

Yeah they put on good events ... The Appolonia jam at Fort York last summer was awesome. Sonny Fodera is playing on Sunday June 6th, now that would be some quality funky summery outdoorsy music. Champions League final is on the 5th so I don't care who's playing I'm not going. |

Yeah, really looking forward to the Summerdaze jams. My work schedule last year didn't allow me to go to any of them. :/
I got a 25 dollar early bird ticket for the whole weekend. Even if I only go one day that's still a fantastic price. |

I've realized that, regardless of the talent, something about the Island parties is just always the same. I feel like I've gone to pretty much the exact same party and had the exact same experience every time. It isn't necessarily bad, but it definitely isn't anything special. Meh. |
