:p lol..!! flippin heck arturo.. :D
with regards to the topic i just one have one thing to say.. not wanting the scene to expand is selfish. sure, there are consequences to expanding the scene (ie, people that suck start to love edm..it goes commercial just like starry-eyed surprise, but that's a whole other can o' worms cuz that was an attempt at a radio hit in the first place) but the thing to remember is-- if you really love the music, you'll really want to share it with everyone and make em feel it and love it the way you do. sorry to sound so ladeeda about it or innocent. i'm none of those, i just love the music and i keep it simple. who cares about kids who want to be djs and such all the meanwhile.. really.. let it be bc it really won't affect major djing and if it does, i think it'll only be in the case of "oh , we have the next AvB" here but that's not gonna happen until the kid is good at producing as well.. cuz y'all know it's necessary to put out your own to make it these days....so it's not like it will demean DJing.. hopefully it will deflate the whole phenomena of "dj superstar" syndrome which has been the trend for the past few years.. or maybe inflate it more, who knows..
regarding commercialism: even in the UK, where trance is as popular as hip hop here, sasha or pvd doesn't get radio play. (and yes, i can verify, please don't say "well have you been there!? cuz i have, for a long ass time :) ) so it's not THAT commercial.. like that will never happen IMO. but, if a dj/artist Wants to be commercial, then he'll do it. so goes the story of oakenfold.
*goes to best buy* i need some new headphones, damnet :)
ps. this post is dedicated to matt/taub, cuz he told me to come here :) tehehe |

the average dj sucks and that'll always be the case.
I am not picky about listening to djs but when we are talking skills let me assure you that the good ones are RARE ....
the average kiddie on decks dun mean anything
and for your info limin li is a good dj. |
jdat you stirrer, you missed my point. My point is, if he really was a good DJ, why would he be worried about best buy selling turntables and the extra competition coming. Just because you have a turntable and some records, doesnt make you some kind of elitest. There are guys out there that have turntables and already call themselves DJs when they only thing they know how to scratch is their ass. i welcome younger DJs to buy from best buy so that itll up the competition and skills of current DJs. Maybe that is why great DJs are so rare. Because there is not enough competition to oust them from still being great. |

Hahaha. This is actually kimmi now...
And I agree with Busy. Just because they're selling stuff like that at mainstream stores, doesnt mean the kids are going to know how to use them OR know about music to play on them. That's what counts. |

you miss a point :haha: :haha: :haha: :haha:
EVERYONE WANTS TO BE A DJ!
so I think the competition already exists but yeah more people wouldn't hurt.
I vj and there's ZERO competition so it's koo but I still try to rox as if it really mattered
and yeah I dj at least used too and I can kick ass ;)
I say at amit's meetup we do a back to back mixing competition just for the heck of it?
( I don't know about my precision at it haven't spun all year :stongue: ) |
