How do you distinguish the difference between trance/house and progressive trance/house? They sound different but what defines progressive?
Prototrance
In a nutshell.

Any type of music that does not follow a set format, that pushes the boundaries.

Try the search option because there have been many discussions about this topic.

I always thought that in prog house/trance one set of four beats never repeats, ie its always progressing, whereas your standard house/trance, the melody repeats... i may be wrong:)

the difference is that progressive is boring and repetitive and trance is non-boring and unpredictable - something that doesn't make you want to shoot yourself or fall asleep

for alot of people they say they like progressive to be different and "cool" - but that just makes them jewsih

Anyone who can give an objective definition? (i know it doesn't have a definition, but a least try ;) )

InfiniteSquare
if you think trance is boring and predictable, you should get your head checked...and stop trying to be "so damn cool" by calling trance down on tranceaddict.com

yeah, i'm so pissed off right now, i can hardly control myself

back to topic:

progressive house/trance generally relies more on the groove and atmosphere, and rarely has big breakdowns/buildups

something like that

I like progressive equally as much as i like trance, and techno too. As long as it's good, I don't care what it is
