it was simply that. mach 18 was the cause of the breakup most likely. that kind of speed coming down on a landing approach creates insupportable air friction and turbulence.

The shuttle orbits the earth at roughly 18,000 mph and enters the atmosphere at about 16,000 mph. if it didnt enter @ that speed or the correct angle it would just simply burn up. The fact that it entered over the pacific and was reporting everything fine from cali to texas is another factor. but then again i am not the one to talk about speed and trajectory, i am only a meteorology student that has an emphasis in upper level thermodynamics. Let the PhD in physics and etc take care of that. |

Yes, I'm also somewhat confused.
And two things, first of all it can be a terrorist attack if they planted a bomb on it prior to launch. Not very probable, however.
Secondly, what's such a big deal about the israeli astronaut? Yes, it is sad he died, but he's no more special than anybody else on that flight, so I think that picture by sand her k is very stupid and inappropriate. |

can't believe he died? saying that his death is a tragedy is a bit offensive to the rest of the crew, woulnd't you say? there were several people that died. their deaths are a tragedy, yes. and i wouldn't say any of them deserve more mourning or lamentation than any of the others. |
Look if u read about some1 are interested in him in particular(making him somewhat closer to you), and suddenly he dies under such circumstasnces then the first reaction is NATURALLY NOT "Omg 7 astronauts died" but rather " i cant believe HE died". Don't you think? Regardless of his nationality, I first though of him. Forgive me for acting totally normal. And if you read my post again ud see that the whole accident touched me. Yes I mourn equally about every1's death now.
Secondly: To that fool who dug up conspiracy theories about Jew run media: You really are pathetic. I'm yet to see some1 with more complexes, hatred and paranoia.
To the rest of you: For 'S sake! Who the hell mentioned terrorism at all? Did you even watch the news? This thread is a good example for the snow ball effect of growing rumors. If u had really paid attention throughout the entire day ud have noticed that the White House immediately denied any suspicion concerning terrorism. It was the news networks again and again ASKING if its totally out of question that terrorism could have caused that. The answer kept being NO. So, before you start misusing even such tragic events for your pathetic antiamericantistic bullting (and what the hell was that post about 7 Jews??)..."get a grip" if i may use my british friends' words. |

First of all to the fellow who said
"Why is this a black day for Israel"
Its a black day for Israel and for the USA, it mainly touched us becuase Ilan Ramon RIP was the first Israeli Astronout in space.
People in this forum are trying to get us mad by saying its a jewish conspiracy, but I wont get mad.
I dont need to tell all you sane people that this is far from the truth.
Ilan Ramon was very excited about this flight and I'm sure by a million precent that he would have never sabotaged the shuttle.
It is very sad that people use this time to blame others instead of mourning for their own crew members which were 6 Americans.
Try to think about that for a while. |

the government always denies...the truth is out there. agent scully, fox mulder and I are about to unlock the truth. it was actually aliens that shot the ship down from space because the astronauts had proof that there is life out there.
lol

out of the seven austronauts, it was the second flight for 3 of them, and first - for the rest.
it is sad, but it didn't touch me that much...i guess with so many tragedy news as of last decade, you're getting used to it. |

| TO who ever said the shuttle was using out dated technology. Get a brain you realy think nasa would leave 20year old equipment in the the space shuttle? This aint russia ya know. My parents deal with the military on a day to day basis and the planes in america are constantly upgraded with the latest and greatest gear, then we turn arround and sell the outdated gear to other countries. Our technology on the inside is what counts my brother whom is in the navy is flying in a P-3 and the plane was built in the 60's. yet on the inside it has some of the most afvanced radar/sonar detection devices in the world. |

Its the other way around, I cant believe the level of ignorance and stupidity of the the damn media, putting potential blame on Iraq and Muslims, a 20+ yr old space shuttle blows up and 7 people die one being an Israeli Jew(who was a killer) and it automatically has implications of terrorism, what about Sabotage by the Israelis or the Government to bring hate towards Muslims? THOUSANDS of Iraqi Men women and children could die in Iraq because of these ignorant fascist war mongrer Zionists that are further pushing their agenda with the destruction of a space shuttle. Why do you think they put an Israeli who blew up Iraqi nuclear weapons on that ship? Im muslim and Im sick of all this terrorism propaganda war mongering talk on Jew Run media television. :whip: |
Ya know what im sitting here trying to make sense of your post....Your a idiot, get a life, and try to think for yourself. It seems to me you have let your relgion completely dictate your life. I hate when people use racism as a scapegoat. |
