and the people I know and I've seen on parties don't do it either.
I think it's a bit of cliché. Some people who are into death-metal and black-metal do it though, but that's called corps painting.

They are not and if you'd ask them they would say the same. Likin Park is either metal or nu-metal and Slipknot is just plain metal, maybe with a bit black-metal (the riffs) and some grunge-metal (the vocals) |
