First off, I have listened to rap for a very long time, unfortunately over that period of time it has declined in quality...there is no comparison between ing "bling bling" and any song by Tribe, "old school" rap is cool..the new stuff is, fluff in my opinion, rappin about bitches and cars is weak..sorry bobb0..its just weak. When u can't think of anything else to talk about then u can always resort to "dubs" on ur car and but its all too shallow for me. I'm from Mount vernon, home of puffy, heavy d, and pete rock and cl smooth, and i have heard more rap than most of you, it gets played especially when R&B uses the same samples but slowed down..thats why i got sick of it..in addition to that I wanted to listen to music that was more interesting...rap is played out to me and i personally didn't like the direction it was headed, as for the old school rap...i will always like it, but if i go to a club there is no doubt in my mind that i would rather hear trance than hip-hop...

anscoop your a fool
the majority of people listen to rap may be white urban kids .. ok but is 90% right? no sir maybe 25? what bout the millions of black people who listen to rap (ive met very few black people who dont listen to rap, lots less then white people)
2nd of all im done with this thread .. most of the people bashing rap and coming up with nonsense, like 90% of rap sales are to white urban kids, is a moron. Most of the haters seem to be from uk/canada/ other countries .. why? cuz other forms or music are more popular over there and across the world.
how many chinese people u know can understand the slang most rap songs use .. i bet even the mighty anscoop cant translate this phrase for me
me and big boi pulled up into the club crump as a mug .. fiendin for the fire green .. peeped some cluckas, damn they needed to holla at lil woodee for his oscar meyer ya heard me......
most rap is sold in america right? how many americans do you know? i know ALOT more then you buddy
someone was right earlier when they said rapers often tell stories about themselves .. how can u enjoy the story if u cant understand the words .. and some urban white kids can relate to alot of the things they say |

Ok, this forum is either filled with little kids, or young adults that I might as well call little kids.
This is a waste of my time, but hopefully you'll learn a lesson.
b0bb0, learn to capitalize I and the first letter in the begining of a sentance. School is good for you, if you didn't know, I suggest you start in about 4th Grade, they teach you how to use grammar and other nifty rules.

FYI- Majority is more than 50%, you can't have a majority with 25%. Again, you need to LEARN the difference between fact and opinion. You think that it's 25%, I'm TELLING you as FACT that it's the major demographic in the industry, as a person who works in it.

You know, that proves absolutely nothing, except that Americans don't conform to universal standards.

Ok, I apologize for making this personal in advance, but you're a ing idiot. Translating ebonics, has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the Question posed here, which is: Is RAP a valid form of art?

If you're talking to me, than you're wrong beyond your wildest dreams. You can't pull these things of the air, based on the mere info a person puts in their profile. Not that it's any of your business, but I used to reside in US of A.

That's why RAP Artist's relationship with their audience is plutonic, killing the authenticity of the genre. Of course, that's way above your comphrension level, so there's no point.
This is a general waste of time, do something for yourself however, write down all your opinions on a piece of paper and store it. When you're forty, read that piece of paper, and reap the joy of knowing how stupid you were, that is if you don't kill yourself by then.... one can only hope. |

well the thins i cant understand is how can someone call rap music?... its KINDA like music...but... well, its more like fast poetry aint it!!! but how can u relax to it?...how can u dance to it?... how can u get drunk and trance to it?... (of course when ure drunk u can trance to a cat dying...nevermind...lol) |
In my book, r&b and rap surpass trance... however, I like all types of music.... to say how rap is music is just like someone (like my mom for example) saying how is trance music. (I grew up listening to motown, R&B and hiphop and have taken a liking to trance about 1.5 years ago)..... i think that some people just need to learn to accept other peoples tastes/cultures rather than ridiculing them. |

| if u dont like hip hop..dont listen to it..simple as that....some people are being ignorant about hip hop..there are some good stuff out there... generalization isnt good...its just like how the general public looks at our trance and electronic music genre as all being like zombie nation or any of that crap... |

Still, that isn't relevant to anything, that's what I was pointing out.

"........" is an improper way to end a sentence, if you're going to nitpick, so your point is mute.
There is a difference between spelling mistakes, and lack of any language skills whatsoever, to the point where it impedes in the point you are making.

Like I said before, you were taught by your parents or your influences that genaralizating is not good, but one would not be able to talk about anything which includes more than one without generalizing. |
