What are you actually trying to prove in this thread? |
Interesting you ask. I wouldn't say I'm trying to prove anything besides stating my opinion which I believe happens to be right (and in a tone no different from everyone else claiming to be "right" on the contrary).
Everyone here has a right to their opinion on music, and I don't think I'm alone in recognizing the sterility of this controversy. Taste in music is extremely subjective, nevertheless I think there are a few standards that most people should agree on.
My main points in here, which were aptly noticed by a few, are that prejudice and preconceptions to cheese have been too flippantly used to judge a song that would otherwise be granted a much greater amount of respect.
In the end, it's just music guys, lighten up....we all enjoy trance even if our sub-tastes might vary from song to song.
I apologize if I've disturbed some "elitest" turf going on in this board, but I think everyone's entitled to a strong opinion.
As for the unwarranted insults to the integrity of my posting account here, I don't feel a burden to dignify it with an answer. |

| The only track I like by Fragma is You are alive (Blank & Jones remix). The other ones are just horrible...rotten cheese |

Not a ripoff in the least. They totally eclipsed the original cafe del mar with this song. Damae's vocals sound absolutely divine, and it adds so much to the tune. |

True, and whilst one can try with all their might, nobody has the right to force their opinions on others - especially in such a blind manner. Fragma deserves no respect for this track for they have released it with one thing in mind: $$$$. |

| cafe del mar 98 was one of the biggest selling singles of all time due to the amazing 3 n 1 mix, and featured as a SINGLE on at least 5 different record labels world wide, as well as probably being on at least 50 compilations in it's time. the figures are the facts here... |

That itself is a contradiction in terms.
I'm not going to place any judgements on you as I don't know you. I have no problem with you liking this track but it seems you have repeatedly been trying to prove yourself right in this case by giving popularity figures and claiming anybody who doesn't like the vocal has "tragically poor taste". What does remain as a matter of fact is that it's a lazy copy of "Cafe Del Mar", whether you like the track or not. |

Agreed, it's really quite amazing. :p |

Actually, I agree. It is somewhat of a contradiction. Of course, it's no different than anyone here telling me that their opinion is somehow "superior". So it's true, there is a level of contradiction when you state on opinion in music as being "right", a crime for which none of us can feign abstinance. |

Of course they have the permission:

I have always wondered why and how did Ramon Zenker got involved in the Fragma project in the first place.. he has a million better projects and aliases. Hardfloor's Acid Mix of Cafe Del Mar would have been wicked instead of this awfully done vocal rape some even seem to like. It has nothing good from Cafe Del Mar except the melody. |
Maybe that he next to all his great projects also has to see that he can pay his bills! |
