I'd say it's the best meetup we've had so far.
I think this is the first we've actually specifically organised.
Most previous ones were more casual. |

Hahaha! I've experienced that kind of thing before. :)
By the way, webmeister doesn't look like the guy in neighbours. :)
I'm sorry you missed our meetup, I hope to see next time. |

Wit hregards to the meetup i was so hyped for it then i had a brain explosion, i was outside and i saw ves and trancey ash and there like "you missed it" i looked at my fone and its 12:00 AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH but i think we got some good shots during armin which will make up for it!
Cant wait for the rest of the photos they look great so far! i must agree that it was awsome how the TA's 0wned the front centre section of the arena! everywhere u turned was a TA! i think it was the best meetup ever, i wouldnt call it a meetup seeing we spent most of the night together.
Was great seeing Justin's angel shirt on the big screen numerous times at length! great shirt cant wait to get mine going hehe :)
so im thinking what to were for pvd? hmmm.........VANDIT shirt you think? haha!
another highlight of the night was ripping two Paul van Dyk tour posters off the wall and doing the runna! hehe

I didnt go cos I felt $90 or however much it was was too much to pay when all I really wanted to see was Armin and none of my friends I usually go clubbing with wanted to go.
Really wish I had but I'm so glad that he's going to be playing at Gas, so hopefully I'll see a lot of you there :D |

Heya everybuddy,
Twas cool to meet up with a few of you (I was the guy in the red "Liquid" tshirt, with the crazy eyes)
Managed to meet Helen (love those legwarmers), Trancey Ash (the GU tshirt gave you away), Waxology (like that Vandit T), S_Madis (I remember meeting you and you explaining that your name was Sidney, but I don't recall what you look like), Ves, FB (I waas chatting to you for a bit at layo and bushwacka, and if I'd known you posted on here, I would have mentioned it). I missed meeting crasherkid, but you mentioned you ran into DJPK, who I came up with.
I came up from canberra with a few ITMers (Canberra style, not Sydney style ITMers), I think one of you guys realized that Gav (DJ Pornking on ITM) was "the guy from the PvD video @ home". Got there later than we expected and hung around with friends just not doing much for ages, which was a bit annoying cause I wanted to get into the music, but didn't want to lose my friends in the crowds. It turned out that over the night I was able to cruise around anyway, and catch up with someone I knew.
Caught the end of Peewee's set, and it was so much better than his Canberra set several weeks ago, was up the front, right of centre, which was absolutely perfect cause the doors that were open opposite blew a nice cool breeze in. Judge Jules was up next, and my impression of him is that he's such a fool, I'm just annoyed that my friend wouldn't let me take some photos to make fun of him, there was soo much photoshop potential with the poses he was putting on. I thought the mixing was pretty terrible at the beginning (both from the sound point of view, and looking at the crowd's reaction as the two songs mixed). Several times he put in a track no where near beat matched and it just sounded terrible. I know that the stage was stuffed in terms of isolation (Jules got way pissed off at the photographer), but some of those mixes had nothing to do with the stage. The bottles of wine consumed (in a plastic cup no less) were a bit much, and having to chuck a longer song on just so you can go and have a slash (Twice!!!) during your set in full view of those of us on the right hand side of the stage, was pure class! Man it was funny though, when Armin came on the stage and the crowd roared and Jules thought it was for him until he realized. Did anyone else notice Armin put on the first mix, and turn to say something to Jules, and Jules lent over and tweaked an EQ as if to say, "F**k you, I'm better than you", and the coming back on stage to grab his bottle of wine about half an hour in to Armin's set was even more of an
I'm still in my early days of the scene, but Armin's set was one of the best I've ever seen, lots of anthems, and a few new tracks. I didn't head into the front and centre because I was having more fun over on the right hand side, where it wasn't quite so moshpit-like. Erratik, you said you were over that side, and I took quite a few photos of random people on my friend's camera around there so you'll have to point yourself out if you're in them. They'll probably be on ITM sometime this week after she recovers from the night.
I'm pretty sure I got a pic of Helen and Waxology, sorry it took me several tries to take. I'd changed several settings for shots facing the other way, and couldn't work out how to change them back on that camera. I prefer to use the viewfinder even though the camera has a lcd screen, and my eyes were having trouble focusing through it. Hopefully it will have helen and wax with Armin in the bg.
Spent the next hour or two runnning around to various arenas to take some crowd and laser shots, and getting addicted to having a digital camera. It's so much fun trying to take cool shots. I'm hoping to get one soon I'm so addicted to it from last night. I took one where the lasers look like they are coming out of the DJ's shoulders like some sort of raver angel (well at least that's what I thought it looked like at the time, I haven't seen the full size pics yet). I didn't have any hassles with taking photos anywhere except for one security guard at layo + bushwacka who warned me that I should "put it away, or they'll take it away", pfft good luck to them. The person who owned the camera even took a couple of photo's of the security guards during Armin's set cause they were being cool about us taking photos, etc.
That MC Losty dude was a bit annoying, I think the "When I say Judge, you say Jules..." thing was more for Judge Jules' ego than for crowd hyping. The sniffer dogs freaked me out when they walked less than a metre away from me while I was sitting on the benches outside the 3D arena. But the security acted generally pretty decent as far as I saw, and the dogs stayed out of the arenas.
I think someone on here (or maybe ITM) mentioned that they closed the GK room early when the sound stuffed up, it may have had something to do with the pipe that burst under the stage during Armin's set. It was gushing water all over the place under the stage. The sight of a 3 phase plug lying in a 2 inch deep container of water isn't a nice one to see. Someone's gonna be pissed at having their turntable flight case lids filled to the brim with water I'd imagine. Big thumbs up to the security guys who got it all cleaned up quickly and made sure it didn't stop Armin's set, the true heros of the night.
I caught bits and pieces of Layo and Bushwacka, it was a bit intense though cause the sun was coming up, but it was cool to have a chat with Dave Seaman, who was having a ball of a time (though I missed seeing him dancing, apparently this was pretty funny). Security wanted Layo to wind it up at around 7:50, but he wasn't having anything of it, playing "Just 1 more track" several times, and causing one security guard to give in and bust a groove to the track to the cheers of the crowd. He eventually gave up his headphones to security to show them that he really meant last song, but then proceeded to spin the track back once it finished. It just about would go down as a full on comedy act (especially when you add in Dave's antics as well. :) ), and an awesome end of the night.
Overall a pretty decent production, things seemed to go smoothly, and the crowds were all decent in the places I ended up. PLUR was in the air that night, and I had many a conversation with sketchy randoms who were really enjoying the music and not just there for posing purposes. |

to be honest... i didnt expect much from Sydneys Tribes.
i just thought melbournes was so much better.... till i experienced it for myself last night!
i have so much to say, but my scattered state is restricting me from remembering anything :(
well first of all... the Sydney crowd just appreciate their music so much more. u dont have alot of those wankers in melb showing off in front of ya. plus the girls i saw last nite... *speechless* (no offence to melbs girls :) )
haha its gonna be fukn hard pressed for Melbourne to beat sydneys party, because ARMIN completely owned the night. now that hes confirmed a 3 hr set in melb... my mind cant handle another wave of armin. i think i might just keel over n die because if its gonna be anything like sydneys, its going to be a night to remember.
THANKS to all the cream boys who made my night :)
next major event in syd... consider me there |
