Hearing a PvD liveset and seeing the man play live is completely different. It was blatantly obvious in his XXL set that he was holding back any of the new stuff.

No DJ is great all the time? John '00' Fleming..... theres one ;)
and 'Tijs' sucked big hairy donkey balls for the majority of last year, theres no bandwagon, when you mix poorly, play the same set for 6 months and release bad tunes, what else is there to say?

I have seen PvD once maybe not as many as you or others but once, ok maybe uplifting isnt the word really, but u get my drift and I cant comment on J'00'F never seen him or listen to him much really. U have to admit Az there is some serious bandwagoning goin on with Tijs, during the summer i will admit Tijs got really repetitive but thas the summer what do u expect he has to play all those big tunes over and over again, and on my own personal account Ive heard one Tijs set with poor mixing, maybe there were others but not that i know of and I'm a pretty avid fan, who consumes quite a bit of Tijs sets.

I agree with you 100%. As soon as that bassline and those hi-hats kick in it doesn't matter what the rest of the song sounds like, the Vandit wh0r3z go into "auto-orgasm" mode. PvD's productions bore me, and IMO he only has 3 good tunes: Another Way, For an Angel, and his recent production Animacion.

Stfu, just because contrast in opinion lets not get outrageous. I am not a Vandit whore, I like most of PvD's tracks, not all, most. Production isnt even what were talking about ass, we were discussing live sets, on stage performances, not productions. Notice words like mixing, set, being used, I nor Az said nething about songs.

personally i think its forums like these which label his music, if you read various interviews he never calls his music trance or anything, he labels his sound "electronic dance music" so therefore he plays what ever the hell he wants.

which leaves it open for people to make assumptions on what style he is 'supposed' to be playing. this is where the flamming starts.

Paul is a great dj and he does what he does very well! no doubts about it, and even the people who dont like his productions you kidding yourself if you say "he cant dj for " he is one of the best and you know it!

heaps of dj's i dont listen to like Sasha and all the prog stuff, i just cant listen to it i prefer somethign harder, but i dont bag them, i respect them.

paul's music may not be everyones cup of tea, but hey just becasue you prefer a different sound doesnt mean this sound is , its just you prefer somehting else, so no need to bag it.

Cheers

yeah there is a lot of bandwagon jumping, and with good reason
although I'm sure if you look back at my posts, I was slating him well before it was 'cool'
;)
and as for playing the same set over and over, theres no need at all
look at Paul Oakenfolds Essential Mix world tour...
how many tracks did he play twice?
how many sets even look similar?
it's not like there was a shortage of great tracks last year either....
he got lazy :(

At the end of the day it's just down to opinion. If you don't like him don't go and see him play.

In my opinion there is no-one that even comes close to him, and i enjoy all the sets i see from him. I love his sound, but not everyone does just like with Oakey, Tiesto, Armin etc and all the other greats.

On the subject of his current form, well i've only seen 2 sets this year ( Passion and Slinky), his Passion gig was good, but nothing amazing and his Slinky night was blindingly good! His last hour was amazing, and he even thro some of last years big tunes into the equation. Heaven! :D Downloaded some quite average radio sets, but he plays a wide style, esp on the radio.

WTF? Excuse me!!!!

How about you just all right off!!! I've only bothered to read the first ing page of this bull thread because frankly it makes me sick. You people don't know ing anything about Paul and what is going on in his life at the moment. Who are you to pass judgment on someone you don't know anything about? You sit at your ing computers and just slate people who dedicate their lives to trying to bring you happiness in their music. Paul's progression in his music is his choice and you have no right to label him as . ing grow up you bunch of immature wankers.

His passion for music and the people takes my breath away every day.....and you ing have the nerve to talk about him like this. This war is hurting him more than you people could ever understand. He is losing his faith in humanity and you ing people aren't helping that fact. You make me sick. He dedicates his life to positivity, peace and hope and all you do is cut him down. He works his ass into the ground so that he can play for you guys all over the world and this is your ing gratitude. You forget that he is a person and he deserves your respect and understanding! He has more emotion and passion that you people will ever have. You just all ing band together and slate whoever it is currently cool to hate and love whoever is currently cool to love!! It's ing sad and laughable.

I don't even know why we bother anymore. No ing respect and no appreciation. Who are you anyway? I don't see any of you sad twats up their behind the decks. Because you don't have the talent, the courage or the passion.

Why I ing even bothered responding to this e thread I will never know. Maybe because I know that if Paul saw this thread he would be heart broken. Think about it.

This thread makes me never want to look at TA again. The only reason I do is because amongst all you ******s there are a handful of decent and amazing people on here who respect all others and who share my passion for music and people.

Just ing open your small minds and think before you post random . The world does not need people like you.

::hollers in agreement::

Thank you so very much for expressing your thoughts.

Paul isn't just a DJ or producer to me, he's a role model. Why? Because he sees the scene and the world it exists on in a higher perspective than most. I respect him greatly for that. It is that passion for positivity that channels into his work. Just look at his political comments, his statements in the sleeve of The Politics of Dancing, and the message contained within Global.

Wake up. This isn't just about productions or mixing, both of which Paul is incredible at in his own right. You're insulting a person who has time and again used his popularity for causes beyond himself, a person who still denies his superstar status out of modesty.

Would you do the same?

djmorph
I didn't see him affected by the 2 million Iraquis killed by Saddam before the war started. I hate when these celeberties start to talk about how war is bad n how we should all just live in peace-- WHO doesn't want peace? I mean come on, where are the people protesting for war? There are none. War needs to happen when you have crazy people with too much power killing others. GAWD!
