Jeez... Buffon (many consider him the best golie in the world), Ferrara (veteran defenceman), Davids (Holland's best player and prolly the most agressive midlefielder in the world), Salas (one of the best strikers), del Piero (no need to comment), Pesotto, Nedved (one of the best mids) etc. they also used to have Inzaghi.
What are you guys talkig about? Juve is one of world's most stared-up team. The club just has a very good policy of keeping them for a while.

But whatever, there's nothing to argue about. I gotta say that I hate Juve with passion and wish they lose in every game (for 97' CL quarters, and this year's game six in the CL first group stage). Those are damn good personal reasons, considering how many sleepless nights I've had cos of damn JUVE!!!!!! :( :eyespop:

LOL Yeah right. Flashback to Juventus - Inter (ritorno) this year... Juventus wins 3-0... Toldo punches the ball right into his own player (when he should have caught it)... to give Juve 1-0 lead. BONEHEAD MOVE!!!

AND!!!

What about the CL match versus Newcastle? When Toldo went on a walkabout and let Shearer have a free header?

Buffon is bettah :p

Inter, as per usual, will end up trophyless this year! hehehehe

I used to be the biggest fan of Juventus(back in highscool even my nickname used to be Juventus), but after what they've done to Roberto Baggio(IMO still one of the best strikers/attacking midfielders out there) I no longer have any affection for that team.

I agree with you on that. But which big team hasn't treated Baggio like ? Milan, Inter have both been guilty of it. Baggio, IMO, is one of the greatest Italian players alive. He ranks up there with the likes of Gianni Rivera, Omar Sivori, and Sandro Mazzola.

Baggio said in a recent interview... "training in football today has become like training for a long distance run. For 3/4 of the session, all we do is run. I'd rather play with 10 footballers who can't run, than 10 runners who can't play football."

He is so right about it. While fitness is important in football, Baggio's words sum up most of what we see today. No wonder football was so much more entertaining before.

Exactly. The reason training and strategy is so important now is because money is the biggest factor in all soccer games. Before it used to be as much about winning as it was about playing beautiful soccer. Now teams just care to win or tie and don't give a about the beauty of the game. I still remember Brazil-Norway game in WC1998 when after the game Brazilian coach said that Norway was playing "anti-football"
mezzanine
Guys, there is no such thing as "anti-football." Every team should play to win at all costs. Thats is where I see the beauty of any sport - in the result. There's nothing wrong if a team is literaly 'surviving' the entire game but counter-attacks in the end and scores the game winner. Without adopting a proper and more intelligent strategy the weaker team doesn't stand a chance against the stronger (unless you believe in chance). Remember Denmark in Euro-92, who would even think that they would become champs?

About Norway-Brazil (2-1). Would you enjoy the game more if Norway played an open and beautiful game with Brazil and got 'demolished' 5-0??? Personally I'd switch the chanel after the third. But because Norway 'locked itself up,' it strategicaly outsmarted Brazil and got a deserved victory. The viewers were in suspense until the last minute.
The result is the biggest motivator in proffessional sports and that is why it has more viewers. If you're looking for 'beautiful' and 'fancy' - watch the amateurs! :) It's all about fighting for every inch of the field and struggling for every ball!
Durafei
Well, from the team's perspective there is obviously nothing wrong with that.. If something was wrong, they wouldn't be doing that. But from the viewer's perspective, this is boring. I personally find a game boring if a stronger team is attacking for 90 minutes and on the 90th minute a weaker team scores on a counter-atack. Even if there is suspense involved.

There's also a psychological aspect to it, when people watch their home teams they don't usually care how the team wins as long as there's a result.

Durafei,
Your not a Spartak Moscow fan by any chance are you? :)
Cos if so then we prolly shouldn't argue about football! ;)
It's funny how Dynamo K always had the result, but Spartak always played a fancier game. :) hehe :whip:
Too bad both teams sucked foot this year. :( Well, one more than the other though :D
Durafei
Heheheh :D I guess Ronaldo showed everyone just why he's number 1..
