Coffee detox

Today I decided I wanted to try and quit drinking coffee. On a very "good" day I will have one starbucks grande around 7am, and nothing for the rest of the day. Most days, however, I have one in the afternoon as well (never past 3pm), and on the rougher days I'll have three in one day.
I have been drinking coffee for about 10 years without missing too many days.
Has anyone had to make a focused effort to stop drinking coffee, and if so did you go cold turkey? What was your experience?
I love coffee :( |

I did it cold turkey and suffered from headaches every single day for about 3 weeks. If I didn't have a coffee by noon my headache would start and it turned into a migraine almost every single day. I just had to suffer through it.
I do on occasion have a coffee now, but the headaches don't effect me.
I have also when really needed have bought a mocha RockStar to get the caffeine to keep me awake and tastes just as yummy :) |

switch to cocaine lol jk
I'd say go to bed early and wake up on your own instead of an alarm and a healthy diet so you feel energized |

one answer
freshly squeezed juice every single morning is what substitutes coffee for me for the last 4-5months now
3-4 big carrots and 1 apple and drink on empty stomach, energizes you for the whole day |

A good workout before the office is probably your best bet for your energy levels in the morning. |

good luck Sarah! have you tried to limit yourself to 1-2 times a week first? |

This necessitates getting up just after 5. I've tried it but it's just too inhumane to stick with consistently.
Gera, definitely considering getting a juicer. Right now it's hot water with lemon first thing and then green tea...
I still feel like a space cadet today. Hopefully tomorrow is better! (Although I'm really doing a number on myself by also trying to cut out sugar including fruit sugar and wheat - other carbs like rice/quinoa etc ok) |

green tea actually has a calming effect, i'm suprised it doesn't put you to sleep, i would recommend drinking it at night more than in the morning..
juicer's are expensive but are very worth it. |

Basic juicers are only about $40 I think? |

I have quit drinking coffee about 7-8 months ago. I have never felt better in my life.
I quit cold turkey and started drinking tons of tea. I love green tea, so I usually have green matcha in the morning to help me wake up. In the afternoon, I drink mate. It's a Brazilian tea drink that has a similar effect as coffee without all of the side effects and caffeine.
I felt like for about a month and was having terrible headaches, but it was all worth it! |
